The blistering heat of the Scorched Path made progress painfully slow. The Skaven Warlord Feshnak barked orders at the sluggish ratmen as they marched forwards to clear a path for the forces of Chaos. Ahead of them through the haze the shapes of mammoth creatures fizzed into view. Feshnak knew his chance to humble the failures of other Chaos warbands in Aqshy after the cataclysmic loss of Ashenhold was soon to be realised. There was no way that the cold-loving Ogors of the Beastclaw would be able to survive in such heat, now was his chance to overwhelm them and earn the Great Horned One’s favour.
Snapping at the clanrats and Skyre creations a battle line was formed quickly and judging the approaching Stonehorn’s distance to be insufficient to reach his lines before they tired Feshnak gloated to his underlings. The monsters began their thunderous charge, small rocks lifting off the earth as half a dozen of the brutes began to pick up momentum. Feshnak let out one last smug grin to his appeasing lieutenants before the first cries went up from the frontline Skaven. Horror took his face. The heat haze had obscured how close the Beastclaws were to the lines of ratmen and all too late a mountain of stone and flesh slammed into the servants of the Horned Rat.
As guttural roars and bone snapping force obliterated the Skaven front line Feshnak wouldn’t even had time for one of his underlings to challenge his arrogance. A great beast and its Ogor mounts trampled the bodyguard and threw Feshnak’s lifeless corpse across the horizon. The remaining Skaven did their best to outflank and secure the road again – outnumbering the beasts dozens to one. But their numbers were too depleted and it was clear to the brightest among the Skaven leadership that the battle was lost and with what little organisation there was left tattered remnants of the army withdrew. Leaving the overheated Stonehorns and Ogors to sweat in their vigil of the Scorched Path.
