Vendral and his fellow Isharann tended the well they had constructed deep within the Mistswamp for the souls to sustain the other Idoneth. The concentration of soul energy however was a powerful beacon to those who controlled the power of death, the Isharann knew this and had sent out Namarti scouts to secure the encampment. It was not long before the first ghouls were spotted on the outskirts of the swamp, and where one was found and slain it quickly became apparent there was a much more malignant force approaching.
A great war host of Flesh Eater Courts was being drawn towards the locus of souls and at their head a retinue of deluded vampiric Ghoul Kings. The Namarti scouts hurried back to Vendral and the others informing them of the approaching doom and swiftly a plan was devised. If the force of will holding the Flesh Eater Courts was broken then the ghouls would flee to their natural states, cowering in the filth and feasting of scraps. The Idoneth knew it was their only hope for salvation from such a great force of undead might.
Scrabbling over rocks and clacking bones along pebbles the vast hordes of ghouls rushed towards the soul-light, a beacon to their benighted eyes. The Ghoul Kings and other nobles marched above the surrounding Flesh-eaters in a grotesque parody of chivalry, but it made them easy enough to see for the keen senses of the Idoneth. Striking as swiftly as their blades and bows allowed the Namarti and Akhelions dashed across the brackish water of the swamp. Dashing past the few ghouls who blocked their path and engaging with the so-called knights of the Flesh Eaters. Felling several in mere minutes. As the Flesh Eater’s delusion began to lift from groups of ghouls they broke in fear towards shelter as fast as they could and as quickly as the host had stormed into the soul-light it began to disintegrate. The few vampires left alive by the Idoneth cursing them in languages unspoken for millennia. The Mistswamp would remain in Aelvish hands for now… But how long until death comes to claim the souls they have taken once more?
