Result: Major Victory for Maggotkin of Nurgle

Summary

Climbing into the sky the outer walls of Barilomm stood dominating the landscape. Atop their battlements banners fluttered in the breeze and the Free Guild stood to attention as the foul host of Nurgle began to emerge at the end of the Gilded Way. Leading the forces of Order as they marched out to meet the Maggotkin was the venerable Be’dex an ancient and wise Slaan who had seen visions of this moment but remained silent on what would happen.

The lines were drawn; Collegiate Arcane wizards, Dispossessed, Freeguild Guard all arrayed ready to do battle with the forces of Chaos. Against them the bloated mass of Maggotkin forms, suppurating pores and a miasma filled with flies. Ahead of it all two enormous creatures, the vast form of the Nurgle beast Petunia and the Skaven Verminlord twistedly called Mr. Nibbles.

Charging across the plains of Barilomm the Maggotkin smashed into the line of the Freeguild, slaughtering dozens. The discipline of the Freeguild held and they hacked back at the rotten Chaos warriors, their muskets blasting chunks out of the foetid worshipers. No matter what they did however the Maggotkin kept coming, their unholy patron reknitting their bodies as if they were nothing.

Rank after rank of musketeers, canons and all the firepower that Barilomm could muster did nothing to halt the advance and eventually, the sickness began to take root in the Order lines. Duardin, Aelf and Human alike succumb to vile sickness and collapsed in agony as Nurgle pressed towards the wall. A heroic Battlemage Ytarius on his might Griffon charged into the Verminlord Corruptor but was sliced from the sky by the creature's foul blades. One by one the forces of Order fell until it was just Be’dex the ancient Slaan facing the swollen beast, Petunia.

Conjuring walls of force to hold back the Nurgle creature Be’dex fought exhaustingly to keep it away. Blasting bolts of magic into its flanks, but Petunia seemed to not even feel the injuries inflicted upon her. The very spirit of the Grandfather himself filled her with vigour and with a mewling roar sliced the Slaan from his throne and cast it into the ground. Even as Be’dex began to dissolve into starlight he finally revealed his vision – he would fall this day but Order would return to Nulbaruk but it would not be by his hand. Ignoring the ramblings of the fading star-mage, Petunia and Torshmal turned to Barilomm – there would be great slaughter tonight and then all will be blessed with Nurgle’s gifts…
