I freaking love Clarence, he knows the rules, his army and his tactics and doesn't come off as arrogant and/or condescending. Many players should learn from him.

I think of the issues, not necessarily here but in general, is the abundance of solid buildings in your battle reports. I know in some way it makes sense, but in reality all it does is make games impossibly slanted towards armies with skimmers. Imagine fighting a war but your troops can only walk on half of the battlefield, or being armed with swords but having to assault up buildings to use them. This is why I prefer ruins in wargaming, call me old fashioned. In real life, the marines would be able to walk go into the buildings, allowing them to properly attack the soldiers camping out on top, while also protecting them from incoming fire. This would put mobile squishy armies at a fair disadvantage in these instances, but do the rules alow you to do this? No. All your armies can do is lamely stand down in the open as the enemy jumps from rooftop to rooftop, and fire some guns upwards in their general direction.

There was little point in playing that battle. As soon as Clarence decided to sit at the back Matt had absolutely no chance of winning.

What I meant by my earlier comment, excuse some errors it's 3 am here, is that you can't drive tanks (like a Leman Russ) through solid buildings, you can't embark in them, send breacher teams into them, and you can't actually properly get units at the enemy sort of sitting at the top. All of which would be done if they had rules representations. An Eldar fighting a Space Marine that just rounded a bend in the hallway is not going to be living very long.

Great battle report guys, especially when Clarence is invloved.

I can understand the difficulty with balancing eldar to 30k. I feel you need to bring more tough and mobile units like sky hunter jetbikes and drop pod dreads, whilst further reducing eldar jetbikes and skimmers. As mentioned earlier more ruins would help.

No matter what happens i will always appreciate all the hard work you are putting into 30k reports. Thanks, guys.

I like how Clarence spells out what he is doing, the rules he is using and how those rules work.

Too many times, I watch Eldar/Tau bat reps and they are throwing a bunch of dice, re-rolling, and doing other shenanigans that their armies allow without a freakin' clue what is going on. There are times it seems like they have the "continue rolling until I want to stop" special rule.

I appreciate the tutoring he gave during the video.

Concede?!? Not very Salamander of you.

People need to let go of the balance issue. Its like baseball. A hitter that fails 70% of the time is considered a superstar. A pitcher that only succeeds 70% of the time is out of a job.

Some armies are hitters, some are pitchers. Know which is yours and judge your performance accordingly.

i don't know how much of the ITC rules you actually use so i would get if you say to me that you actually use only the FAQs for the ambiguous rules but, please correct me if i'm wrong, i think that in the full itc ruleset eldar jetbike can actually only take 1 weapon every 3
which, if you ask me, is a wise thing to do to actually bring eldar to a normal level, especially if you are trying to balance with 30k
i hope this help
Love the attempt that you are doing matt to bring xenos to 30k with a balance, the necron one actually worked out really good

Everytime an Eldar player asks for a game at my local gamestore i tell them to piss off. I got enough people to do it and now we don't have any Eldar or Tau players and their OP shit anymore.

While I agree with most of bossmans building comments, I'd point out that tanks were almost never driven into or through unknown buildings due to possible collapse/entrapment as well as the hazards posed by basements, cellars and other below grade hazards

@sindinista, a result of 1-3 is shaken, 4 is stunned, 5 is weapon destroyed , 6 is immobilised and 7+ is explodes.

Sindinista (Over a year ago): - delete
@krv5516 you're correct. However, I said the result wrong result in my past post, it was a 3 which is stunned. So Matt still shouldn't have been able to move the Predator.

isnt there an Imperial though of the day that sayes:" Death is always an option, Failure is not"?

krv5516 (Over a year ago): - delete
@sindinista you are thinking of the stunned result where you can't move or shoot that turn. Shaken can move, but can only snap shoot and cannot fire template weapons.

Sindinista (Over a year ago): - delete
Around 21:00, Matt's Predator was Shaken, but he still moved it forward. I thought Shaken meant snap shots AND cannot move for one turn. Am I missing something?

Didn't that unit that 'failed the pinning test have a centurion? or was another rhino?
