The waters of the Shadowtide Lake were still, an eerie layer of mist sitting atop them. Below its outwardly tranquil waters there lay a nightmarish secret, a warren of tunnels and caves filled with the experiments of the Skaven Great Clan Moulder. Skittering around through darkness lit only by green glowing warpstone lamps, Master Moulder Squirk had been constructing his laboratory away from prying eyes. But the eyes of the Great Necromancer are sleepless, and his wrath would soon befall the ratkin of the lake.

Attempting to bring order to the chaos Grey Seer Ustencratch brought up Squirk with his largest Rat Ogors to smash the spectral assault. Only when they engaged some terror of the spirits took them and though few beasts were felled, the rest scattered into the tunnels around. Ustencratch screamed in frustration cursing the incompetence of the Moulder forces and fled to bring news of this betrayal to the rest of the Skaven forces in Ulgu. After several days of hunting down every last rat within the laboratory, the ghosts of the Nighthaunt were eventually called back to Shyish. Leaving a completely silent once more β now only the corpses of hundreds of Skaven filled the bottom of the lakeβ¦
