Lord Gruglor gestured for the column of Chaos Warriors to continue their advance down the Gilded Way from Barilomm, onward to fresh conquests. In the distance, however, the rising sound of drums and symbols being crashed caused the entire force to raise their shields in preparation. In the distance from Grulgor’s elevated position atop his, Karkadrak could see in the distance an enormous Loonshrine poking its sneering yellow face above the treeline. Turning to his forces with a wry smile on his face he said a single word to his warband, “Grots”.
The Gloomspite Gitz quickly responded to the oncoming Chaos force, and hundreds of green faces poked out of their pointed black hoods as they assembled into blocks of Stabbas and Shootas. Ijit and Huffer stood at the front of the assembled forces of destruction as the last snuffler squigs were pulling their Grot handlers into position. Without a great deal of ceremony, the leaders of the Gloomspites let out a great cheer and urged the mass of green to rush forward towards the Chaos lines. In return, Grulgor with the arrogance that only the worship of Chaos can bring, ordered his forces to stand their ground and let the oncoming wave wash over them.
Swiftly all the surrounding lands were filled with Gitz and the Chaos Warriors were quickly surrounded and it looked like their retreat to Barilomm would also be cut off. Unease moved through the ranks, but Grulgor held his position until the Grots engaged with his warband. As Chaos and Destruction engaged in melee Grulgor let out a furious roar and charged forward with his Knights and Chosen. A whirlwind of slaughter took place and hundreds of Gloomspites lay dead on the battlefield. In the midst of the slaughter Grulgor began to twitch and raise up his Karkadrak, then his mount rose too and the vile light of Chaos surrounded both and with unearthly roars and bone-cracking the lord walked forth from the light. Now granted Daemonhood to reward his confidence perhaps, or to strengthen the forces of Chaos now searching for other dens that Grots may dwell within. Barilomm was secure for now but if Gloomspites were infesting the caves surrounding the Gilded Way then there is much fighting left before these lands submit to the rule of the Ruinous Powers fully.
