On an isolated rock in the middle of the Lake of Brass, the ancient ruins which surround the Realm Gate have long been of interest to the Noniverate – a secretive order of scholars from the city of Barilomm. It was not only they who were interested in the Realm Gate however and knowing that they would almost certainly be assailed they hired the services of a wandering lodge of Fyreslayers – led by the indomitable Jormundgar Tormensson.
They arrived at the lake and were able to begin their excavations, but it was not long before on the shoreline the first signs of undead could be seen shambling towards the narrow strip of land between the surrounding mountains. Tormensson immediately led the Fyrelsayers towards the valley and readied for a long day of slaughter against the oncoming skeletons.
Lurking amongst the shuffling corpses Necromancer Andrad Thisvald commanded the legions forth towards the blocking Fyreslayers but had his own plans in service of his Cabal. As the fighting erupted between Duardin and Deadwalker Andrad began to make his way around the sprawling combat trying to get towards the Noniverate on the island offshore. Seeing this gaunt figure sneaking around the edges a group of Hearthguard saw their chance to end the necromantic magic and rushed in to slay the foul wizard. Only when they did their blows did not strike home, for Andrad was a master of the winds of death and the axes never struck true – even so Andrad made his escape as quickly as possible as to forward his own nefarious plans.
Meanwhile, Tormensson had charged into the Wight King Hasalft and his entourage. Cutting down the Grave Guard but leaving many Duardin dead too eventually a blade sliced Tormensson’s chest and he appeared felled. Only for the spirit of Vulcatrix to rage forth from inside him and his body turned molten and swollen as Tormensson was no more but now had become a Molten Infernoth. Hasalft was quickly crushed by the firey fist of the spirit before the death energies which empowered the undead dissipated the burning spirit. Though the Fyreslayers fought bravely it was the undead who left the battlefield victoriously silent, though Tormensson’s spirit was now freed and would perhaps come to trouble the Necromancer Thisvald in the future…
