Matt this battle was amazing!!! It really felt like a narrative! It was amazing in every way, great setup, great looking armies, amazing terrain, awesome opponent, it was all there!!

Although how did you manage to lose Vulkan?! Every battle I've ever fought he's always survived and mostly with more than 3 wounds left. He's a tank that just won't die

@dfaris1987 - It actually specifies that vehicles get the bonus as well, even though they don't have the Legion Astartes special rule.

@DVO - The super heavy was shaken. It was hit by a weapon that specified that if it gets a penetrating hit then that vehicle (even super heavy vehicles) can only snap fire. That's why it's so powerful.

@ross87 - No, Primarchs don't have FNP. They only have IWND.

@slovak - The two rhinos blew up at the same time, so the explosion would hit the other rhino, not the occupants. Although you could argue your way, the reason we agreed to that was because there is no set order of operations when two vehicles blow up from the same weapon.

@adrunkpirate - I don't think the Typhon has shred. I don't have my book with me here though.

Yep, it was 3 loyalists (Iron Hands, Salamanders, Raven Guard) vs 4 original traitors (Sons of Horus, Emperor's Children, World Eaters and Death Guard), later joined by further 4 traitor legions (Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, Alpha Legion, Night Lords).

@Matt The typhon had shred from his warlord trait. Also in the first turn the bikes attempted to charge your tacticals but they had fired at the rhino. Unless the rule is different in 30k.

Yay! More HH BatReps. And great ones too. Damn. I watched the other one first, and I was amazed how the Sallies won even after FOUR possible 1st turn charges by the WEs. Wow.


About the pronunciation of Istvaan. It's not "Ist-e-vann", there's no E in the middle of the name and the A is not short (hence the spelling with two A's). Basically it sounds like the A in the word pal.)

At about 32:35 Matt zooms in on Vulkan's charge and you see a World Eater with two swords. Made me think of the scenes from Batman and Indiana Jones where the guys go mental with their swords and are instantly nailed by the heroes! Nice work.

Typhon is a super heavy ..you cannot stun it, shake it, or anything other than exploding it for an extra d3 hull points lost. Great report though. I am enjoying the content and am glad to be a vault member.

Turn one, when the second Rhino blew up it was with a 6" radius and should have fragged the guys who had already bailed out of the first Rhino that blew up.

Also, why wouldn't the first squad Vulcan shot through with his pistol provide a 5+ cover save for the squad behind? As far as I know, intervening models always provide a cover save for infantry models.

While it don't come into play here, in the pre-game show Matt mentioned that his Rhino's heavy flamers have S6 but the +1S on flame weapons only applies to Legion Astartes models (i.e. non-vehicles)
