Hey wargamer,
Matthew here. As I type this message I have to admit that I'm feeling rather nervous about launching this Kickstarter tomorrow.
It's been a dream of mine for quite a while to be able to create beautiful and emotion-stirring terrain that MiniWarGaming could share with the world. Since the early days of MiniWarGaming I've always said that my favorite part of the hobby is the terrain.
For me, terrain is the perfect backdrop for the stories we tell. It brings in so much emotion, whether mysterious, epic, awe-inspiring, or a sense of beauty.
I've always admired those that could create amazing looking terrain, and wished that MiniWarGaming could be part of that.
And that's why I am both excited and nervous about launching tomorrow.
It's not because I think our terrain isn't good looking enough. I think it's gorgeous (our partner I Demo Games did a wonderful job!). And not in just a "you always think your own children are the cutest" way. I mean, I loved it the moment I saw the renders for it!
It's not because I think that others won't like it. I've already received tons of feedback about how awesome it looks. And it prints super easy as well!
What makes me nervous is that somehow the Kickstarter won't do well enough for us to do this again. That somehow it just won't resonate well enough to raise the funds necessary to make it worth doing the next set (and the next one after that, and then again, and again, and again).
I want it to do so well that we will have no choice but to work to create a full expansive library of beautifully crafted terrain that anybody can afford to have on their table.
And I don't just mean reusing the same ideas that we've seen so many times. I mean really coming up with a unique library that you won't find anywhere else.
I already know what I want to do for the next set (which I won't spoil here), and I want to do it so badly.
But here's the rub - the first 24 hours of any Kickstarter are the most important. If it doesn't do well then, it rarely gets the momentum it needs to succeed.
So much rides on that first day.
So, I have a favor to ask of you.
If you are willing to not only back this Kickstarter, but also be one of the first ones to do so, please email me at matthew@miniwargaming.com with the subject line "I'll be one of your first backers."
If you do that, and then reply again once you've backed, I'll send you some free STLs, that will include some fun stuff like objective markers and some other surprises.
But how much will everything cost?
I realize asking you to commit to purchasing before you know how much everything will cost is tough. I won't put all the details here, but you can get some of the STLs for as little as $50 USD. And the all-in pledge for the STLs is only $100 USD, which gets your EVERYTHING, no add-ons required.
There are physical pledges to for those that don't have a 3D printer. For example, you can get a FULL table's worth of terrain (enough for a 2,000 point game of Age of Sigmar or Warhammer 40k) for only $250 USD (plus shipping of course).
I've worked my hardest to make these prices as affordable as possible while making it worth our while to do this.
If you can't do this, no sweat, I totally get it. Either you can't afford it, or just don't want it!
Either way, thanks for reading this far. I hope your wargaming experiences are as fun as mine!
Happy wargaming!
