Job and Volunteer Opportunities

PHP Web Developer / Web Designer (full-time, temporary)

Starting Date: Now
Starting Wages: Based on experience

We are a small but established company that focuses on making fun videos about miniature wargaming on our YouTube channel of over 179,000 subscribers.

However, our website needs someone to take care of it. The owner used to do it more often, but now he (me really...) is too busy making videos to be able to give it the tender love and care that it requires.

So, we need someone who has the skills to take over this responsibility, and hopefully even do a better job (I'm not much of a graphics guy)...

This requires a few skills, such as:

  • PHP
  • MySQL
  • phpBB integration
  • HTML/CSS/Web Design stuff
  • Web graphics, probably using Photoshop, unless you really, really, like something else better

The position is full time, but at first will be temporary (minimum 6 months, assuming that you work out within the usual 3 month trial period). We are hoping to make this a permanent position after that, but we have to see how things turn out first. I am assuming there will be more than enough work to keep a developer busy full-time indefinitely, but we might as well be honest in our intentions so you know what you're getting into.

Also, you must be willing and able to work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (or something very close to 9am to 5pm) in our Welland offices. We are not interested in contracting a firm or having you work from home (although who knows what the future might hold, and maybe you can work from home sometimes).

When applying, the usual resume is nice, but please take the time to tell me why you want the job, and why you think you would make a good fit.

Send your application to matthew@miniwargaming.com to apply for this job.

We will only reply to job submissions if we are interested in an interview.

Video Editor (part-time, permanent)

Starting Date: August 2015
Starting Wages: Based on experience

We are looking for someone who is experienced with video editing, even if it is with other software.

You will be responsible for editing 95% of our videos, and must be able to do so in a timely and efficient manner, while being flexible of changing needs (i.e. Matthew coming in and shouting "I need this video that I just made done now!")

The following skills are required:

  • Video editing (preferably with Adobe Premier)
  • Graphic Design (preferably with Adobe Photoshop)
  • Good enough hygiene (Steve has a bad gag reflex...)
  • Good humour (because Matthew and Dave are your bosses, and their jokes really aren't that funny)

When applying, the usual resume is nice, but please take the time to tell me why you want the job, and why you think you would make a good fit.

Send your application to matthew@miniwargaming.com to apply for this job.

We will only reply to job submissions if we are interested in an interview.
