Now these are just simply awesome. Take a look at the crystals below. How cool do they look? In this article you’ll learn how to make Warhammer crystals that you can add to your bases or on any terrain.
Materials List
-sprues
-paint brush
-sanding paper
-PVA glue (white glue)
-assorted paints
Step 1 cutting your sprues
Grab some extra sprues you may have lying around. Cut off a few small pieces from them.
Make sure there isn’t any markings or numbers on your sprues. Crystals with numbers showing through will look quite off.
Step 2 sand and shape
Begin by sanding your sprues into crystal shaped pieces. These particular crystals will be used on warhammer miniature bases so they’ll be quite small.
Step 3 Glue crystals to base
Glue a couple crystals to random areas of your base. Crystals that are glued on an angle give an added touch that looks great.
Step 4 Glue sand
Next, brush on PVA glue (white glue) onto the rest of your base and sprinkle on fine sand. Shake off any excess. Leave it to dry for a few minutes.
Step 5 Painting crystals
Begin by applying your first base coat of color to your crystals. For this project we’ve chosen to use liche purple.
Next, dry brush warlock purple, and then tentacle pink.
Give it a few minutes to dry then add a wash of blue ink. Make sure to water down the blue ink, otherwise it’ll saturate the crystal leaving you with no visible undercoats.
Step 6 Paint the sand (optional)
To give it good contrast dry brush your sand codex gray. Make sure to leave some of the natural color showing through. And finish it off by lightly dry brushing some skull white.
