In the world of Warhammer 40k, vehicles and weaponry don’t just appear out of nowhere. They are built in a factory. Today, we’re going to build one of those factories. Only this one’s seen it’s fair share of battle.
Materials List
-foam board
-popsicle sticks
-PVA glue (white glue)
-utility knife
-fine sand
PAINTS
-acrylic black
-codex gray
-bestial brown
-graveyard earth
-skull white
Step 1 Outline entrances and windows
Simply outline where you want doors and windows. For this project I chose various sizes of windows to give variety. I also added 2 main doors plus a garage door.
Step 2 Cut entrances and windows out
Carefully cut out the doors and windows. By taking care and doing this slowly you allow for better and smoother cutting. You’ll ultimately end up with crisper edges which will look tens times better.
Step 3 Adding extra detail
We’re going to add some more detail to the exterior. I’m placing another strip of foam board along the 2nd story roof level and along each side of the front entrance.
This gives the building more variety on the exterior. Variety is good.
Step 4 Adding floors
Begin by slicing out channels for popsicle sticks where you want your floors to go. Then simply glue in the popsicle sticks.
Next glue on your floors. This also braces the walls together.

You can also stick temporary pins through the outside walls into the floors to hold them in place while the glue dries. This also works well when gluing two walls together.
Keep the pics coming.
Do you have a template for the floor plan?
I didn’t make one for this project. I’m pretty much just adding parts to it as I see fit without measuring the pieces with exactness.
dude that thing is going to look awesome when painted :O
Not your best work man… sry
Good job!
I was wondering if it might also be possible to use some materials other than the foam, like cardboard or something else that you come by more often.
Thanks!
I’m curious what you will do for the windows. I bought some projector clear sheets and printed images on them which look like it would be stained glass, but they’re pretty thin and won’t hold up to anything.
Travis; Foam-core is really cheap and you can get it at any art store, much better than cardboard.
Thanks Jabba i’ll take a look around the local art store for that, I also found that in the rule book there are print out sheets of how to make a building much like this that you can photocopy to make.
Dude,
sometimes its good not to have a plan,it looks great and its always more fun working as you go …good job.
MOAR!
Man this is easy as Pie.
Make somethink different for us internet using wargamers….but maybe the project can be good.
We will see.
Sweet, more terrain for me to make. Yes.
Wow this is great. You should do some projects about things that can be placed anywhere, like large, barbed wire fences. I mean, all you have to do is twist thin wire around thick, and make posts out of wood! Could you do a project on making a forest?
this project is gonna be totally sweet when finished hey u should do a urban cityscape with like scyscrapers and houses and factories and bomb shelters and stuff
hey dave, yu shuld make a template for this im actualy just starting mi table and am in need of templates for mi buildings.. so maybe think you culd amke 1?
Where do you get polystyrene foam from in canada. could you give me a website.
All of the prices are outragous for plastic or metal, i mean $30 dollars for one guy! r u serious! I myself play and would like to have other people play( friends) but with the prices so outragous no one will buy anything new thats why everyone who does play buys on Ebay!!!!!!! so the company that lowered the prices ,even by a few dollars, would be making a better profit
do you know were i can get polystyrene in ireland
i collect space marines and it goes well on my space marine base.
