@BadAdj: Think I'm getting slightly confused, dreadnought ccw is a power weapon that doubles the users strength, the power fist is a ccw that also doubles the users strength but reduces the users initiative to 1, I guess that rule doesn't apply to walkers.

I always thought that using a dreadnought close combat would reduce initiative to 1. Presumably if a Deffy using CCW assaulted a Dreadnought with a CCW they would attack simoultaneously, rather than the dreadnought getting the first attack in.

I like to run 2 with 9 kans and 2 KFF. one I kit out with all CCW, and one with 2 skorchas.

These guys are great melee munchers. In my Kan Wall army my "Deffy" is always on the front line running up ahead of the wall looking for its next juicy target and 3/4 of the time it'll get in there and make a mess of things! As Dan said though.... its a total bullet magnet so dont be surprised if it does indeed get blown off the table

if u read the sectoin about the green tide it says that u can treat it as all 100 boys are in 10 seperate squads so u can take 1 nob per 10 boyz in effect

The Deff Dread is one of the few vehicles where armour plates are actually worth thinking about (the other being transport battlewagons...).
It absolutely HAS to make it across the board to even remotely earn back its points, so removing the possibility to be stunned is more or less essential. Another option to consider is Grot Riggers - an immobilized Deff Dread is a worthless Deff Dread. A 50-50 chance of fixing him back up is awesome!
Sadly, all these more or less obligatory upgrades make him quite expensive for something that is still easily destroyed as it snails its way across the field.
I love my Gargbot (it's just such a sweet model!), but efficiency-wise, Killa Kans usually do better, I find.

Deff Dreads can surprisingly handle terminators really well. Took on 5 Terminators and Draigo... it was the longest stalemate ever. Chaos Terminators, one of them had a chainfist.

yes it can be taken as troop choice and works wel with the custom foorce field a specialy when you roll like me lol statistics don't aply to me but on the other hand its kind of crapy when you have to make morale checks. 5 and 6 then bosspole 6 save the wound new morale check double 6 but to hit wound and saves it works fine.

@Khorneblake: In a larger game you could take 4 squads of boyz and 2 deffdreads as troops(if you have 2 BigMeks), then that leaves 3 heavy support slots open to fill with kanz.
