one hint never ever EVER fire a blast weapon at point blank range if you are going to fire a blast weapon make sure friendly units are 9-7 inches minus BS away to make sure you have a good chance of not hitting them you will on average roll 7 on 2D6 and chances are you will roll higher becasue everyone knows luck likes taking the mickle out of us. of course this sounds simple but i have seen the tri droppod cage move before. step 1. 3 drop pods come down in triangle shape each one adjusting its place to suit the landing of the last around a unit. step 2 freinds disembark out and perpare to fire in on the enemy. step 3 fire dropm pod deathwings and tacitcal bolters. step 4. scatter and take out about 7 marine in total becasue this was a stupid tactic you shouldnt have done and i dont suggest doing. just remember if you cant afford something to scatter always assume it will. just like putting the wound on your 2+ guy in the ubit with 1 wound.

a good rule to ALWAYS remeber if it looks like you will make it the chances are you will fail

play nice

second video should be about the assault.

Tactics time.
The assault phase, the most grusome slaughterry part of the turn, and the one that cannot be fun, without tactics.Example:end 17 boys against space marine tactical squad, didnt realy plan for that, well, make the enemy sacrice manpower to kill lower numbers, and die, example:space marine tactical squad is in sight and completely in range of a rapid fire range combat squad, aftert the battle no armour save easy wound 10 bullets of imense acuracy aint gonna like a cake for da boyz. So,the shooting phase plays a big part in the ended assault phase. Also, dont assault a unit that some other unit can counter fire, example:assault marines go against dire avengers, they wipe them out, and,a guardian squad uses its heawy weapon to wipe them out.Ya see where im going. But what if its all safe, coast is clear,no gun pointing, just an enemy sitting there, whistling and waiting for and assault, and then he becomes a death trap, example:a lonely guadsmen gets assaulted by twenty orks,he dies, other gurdsmen cant shoot, but wait,vox-caster sees the asssaulting unit, and wait for it,wait for,"Somebody called for an earthshaker",booooom, assaulters, dead as theyll ever be.That tells us examine the conditions,be sure no counter deep strike, barrage,or even counter assault overwhelm,so look out for killer enemy counter attackers. So,what do we learn here,a shooting and assault phase is like a window with no glass.Looking at the enemys force brings such great cheers and joy for your troops, and those litttle puny dark eldar suck, suckidy suck suck.

Playing Tyranids and Chaos Daemons the shooting phase is something I tend to shy away from. For the most part, I find fire support teams are extremely useful for harassing enemy flanking troops and those coming after your objectives. That being said, sometimes these teams are nice just to add weight of numbers in a fight should some bad rolling see your precious combat units falter.

Thanks Dave, those were some good suggestions that I will take into account for my next battle. Only played a few games so far and only against my friends Orks. I got a lucky shot first turn,in our recent game destroying his Trukk.

When comes to range. What i like to do with my imperial guard is to seperate the fire power on each side of the table. So If they are assualt army and charge the middle i can blow them up from two sides just in case if one side cant see the squad i got the other side of my board.

thypitty5 (Over a year ago): - delete
one tactic that in opinion was missed was everyone must know that cover is your enemy (yes i know it sounds stupid) but think its who is useing it

with orks when you are a noob you hear boyz befor toyz but I am one for not to say that I do a mix of the ork love stuff(horde, freeks, and mek) I have 2 sq of 30 boyz and people have a hard time with them. EVERY ork army needs to take a full man lootas sq if they do not they well die fast. if you take nobz I wish you luck with them back then ork nobz were feared but now they are nothing with out the eavy armour and a big choppa or power klaw and a pain boy and cybork body you are coming to 400p with a 10 man sq :0 dont get me worng I love the nobz but 20p per a modle they are not working well for me. next you have the burna boyz or the loota choise well if you dorp the nobz you can take both!!! and a mek with a kustom force field and a burna in a battle wagon hahahaha burn burn!!!!! old Mat would not know that hit him if you want me to do more let me know ok Dave?

If you're a ranged army then your firepower should be directed towards the units that can close in the fastest because if they die then you have more time to take out everything else. If you're an assault army then you should try to take out the units that have the most destructive long ranged fire power as these units can decimate your assault squads before they reach combat

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH SALAMANDERS! They are Awesome! The heavy weapon in an assault squad thing is a good tactic, for my Raptors I do use a melta so they can destroy Rhinos and then assault the squad in side of them (yes I know Meltas are not heavies but they're kinda the same Tactics).

Another "shooting" tactic that people often forget is when it's best NOT to shoot. This mainly is in reference to units that you want to get into assault, especially when it's near max assault range. In most situations, it's best NOT to shoot their assaulting target because a clever opponent will remove models closest to the assault unit so that it will not get to assault.

Just something to keep in mind.
