really like the "new" style of battle report! i dont think it would fit to apply to every battle report from now on but every other one to be as heavily commented like this, i dig it.

Interesting game and deployment. I liked the idea of setting units one by one as an counter deployment.

I liked the deployment, but it took a liiiittle too long. If it was 5 mins shorter, it would have been perfect. That may just be Alpha Legion shenanigans, but still.

Vehicles can scout 12" Quirk, it's only infantry, artillery, walkers and monstrous creatures that are restricted to 6".

Liking this style of deployment so far.

Leviathan siege dreadnought with 2 grav flux bombards 2 d6 st test or take an ap2 hit no cover saves and the ground where it hit counts as dangerous and difficult terrain you can do it quirk

I really like the sharing of your thought process during them game.

If melta bombs had "melta" instead of "Armorbane," they would only ever be Str 8. Half of range - is black hole.

I found filming the deployment fascinating and liked the commentary, more please

quirk i think you take too many chances, try using more certainties

I meant comment and not command in my last paragraph. Sorry.

To beat that Night Raptor blob with Curze, you could try the Typhoon Heavy Siege Tank. It's strength 10 AP1 Massive blast that ignores cover and shoots at 48 inches when it doesn't move or 24 if it does. Another option would be a 9 men Legion Tactical Support Squad with plasma guns accompagned by a Librarian rolling on divination and you hope to get the Perfect Timing power who gives Ignores Cover to the psyker and his squads. You put these guys in a Rhino and you have good chance of killing quite a few Raptors or even damaging Curze.

Also, I believe that you should consider having Alpharius already revealed when you can so that you get army wide Prefered Enemy (everything). Since the Headhunters lost Prefered Enemy (infantry), it's important to have Alpharius there to compensate when you're using them. The last thing about Head Hunters is that, while they lost PE (infantry), they gained combi-bolters by default and they can be upgraded to combi-weapons while still keeping banestrike ammo. Take them with combi-plasma and with Alpharius around, you can do a lot of damage. You would probably have killed most of the Terror Squad in one go and then killed it off in close combat. Like I said in my other command, it's a good idea to give a Powerfist on the prime by replacing the bolt pistol. They have Venom Sphere giving them Hammer of Wrath and power daggers, so they aren't bad in close combat.

Kovlovsky (Over a year ago): - delete
Veterans have two attacks in their profile and get +1 attack from having a close combat weapon and a bit pistol. That would have helped Quirk do some damage when Curze and the Terminators charged his veterans. Furthermore, Headhunters all have a powerdagger meaning they have -1 strength, but are AP3 with rending and specialist weapon. A good idea is to replace the Head Hunter Prime's bolt pistol by a powerfist, so he gets 1 attack for having two special weapon and he becomes a way to dissuade enemy charges or make him regret doing it.

Brad541 (Over a year ago): - delete
Quirk the only way to counter curze is Vulcan... It's hammer time!! Also if you want to add units to help your army out use recon squads to help your veteran squads

mhorgul (Over a year ago): - delete
Nice game. I dont play 30k but i assume infiltration and scout rules is same as 40k. If so infiltration is made before the scout moves. And as someone mentioned vehicles can scout 12". but not closer than 12" from an enemy model, so a good infiltration can block your scout move.

tetsuo666 (Over a year ago): - delete
Quirk did not play very well , ok ! But Alpha legion suxx like hell, no ??

Filming deployment was cool, especially with the alternate deployment style. I wasnt a fan of the post turn banter. slows down the excitement of the action and ruins the emotional momentum.

i think the batreps get better every month...keep up the good work guys.also, really love the turn by turn commentary..

Myelin (Over a year ago): - delete
I too enjoyed the extended deployment section. It's easy enough to skip if someone doesn't want to watch it and I think it adds a lot of interesting commentary.

Narfwak (Over a year ago): - delete
The deployment and between turn commentary was fun but if the game had gone on longer it would have made the report very long. If you do it again you might want to keep the summaries pretty tight and not get into too much of a conversation about it or it's easy to get carried away talking about what ifs.

As for suggestions for Quirk - I'm tellin' ya, man, get a Praevian and some Castellax and infiltrate those monsters! Infiltrating Castellax are /so/ mean.

Sure, a Typhon would counter Curze's deathstar, but a Typhon counters just about everything and it's not terribly fun to play against. They're one of the few things in 30k that's probably a bit undercosted for how powerful it is against almost any list.

Good job overall catching your own mistakes, though. The new book did change a lot of stuff rather stealthily so some of them are easy mistakes to make, especially the rather counter-intuitive changes they made to AL Headhunters.

Yeah, filming the deployment in such detail beforehand, and discussing it was pretty cool. Hope we'll see more of that.

ronin_cse (Over a year ago): - delete
FYI the firer gets to choose the order that wounds get saved not the other way around.

Arnathos (Over a year ago): - delete
It was great to see you guys do the back and forth during deployment, the thought processes during that time and the game really add to the batrep.

Some of the most popular sports to watch tend to have breakdowns of what is going on quite often in breaks and such, I feel batreps really benefit from it!

Keep up the good work guys!

Novus92 (Over a year ago): - delete
I really feel like you should of played this game till the end. I bet it will be ages till we see Alpahrius fight Curze again they are stood there looking at eachother ready to throw down and you end the game. Such a shame.

Quirk at the 17min mark fired his Kheres Assault Cannon over 24 inches and didn't know his BS or S. I know there must be a lot of pressure around playing while being recorded but when in doubt just look up the weapon profile. It's easier to edit around a quick check of the rule book than Josh correcting you after each roll.

Thamier (Over a year ago): - delete
i would really like to see a few 30k batreps of nightlords vs Sons of Horus! interested in seeing how they work agenst eachother with the new rules and having Horus fighting batman would be epic ! so please make that happen l, thanks for a great batrep

Run away Quirk! Especially when the enemy has turn 1 bonuses. With lighter infantry you want to stay mobile and pick them off, not charge into rapid fire range.

Great report, enjoyed the discussion and deployment.

vehicles get to redeploy 12 not 6

Kerp (Over a year ago): - delete
I think the commentary kills the flow/narrative of the game. A half time discussion would be better. Deployments are fine

jacintorobert (Over a year ago): - delete
Great Batrep very enjoyable. Always nice to see some Space Batman action.

Draad (Over a year ago): - delete
Alpha Legion rocks !

However I think it is obvious that going against an army with amazing cover saves without Ignore Cover weapons was not going to work out well

That tank shock at 47m47s was not performed right. You move the distance. The model that did the last stand made it immobilize. The tank stops in base contact with THAT model. So the first two guys had to move out of the way. There was only room for one duder to the right of the tank in between the rest of the squad. the building was on the left. So one guy would have been dead. Tank shock is no joke.
