Luka since you started just want to commend you with how much more confident and calmer on camera you've become! You've slowed your speech down perfectly, keep coming with the quality batreps!

Luka,
I like how you filmed the deployment drop by drop. 8th edition games really start in deployment, it's almost a "Turn .5" Seeing it this way really helps me understand your choices.

@1:07:12-
The Defiler did not Charge the Overlord and so could not allocate Attacks onto the Overlord.

28:50 there was a 4 in the wounds against typhus which should have been removed. granted there was no damage, but i'm a pedant!

It seemed like there were a lot of miscounted successful dice rolls. It might be better to count them off camera and cut to the number after.

Wait - did you forget to fight with Typhus in DG turn 3 and Necron turn 4??

So list wise, the Death Guard did not have a full compliment of Pox Walkers. This means they died far too easily.

Next was positioning. The pox walkers could of been set up to limit the Flayers ability to drop in. Rhino's were also hidden for? There was not much that could adequately injure the rhino's while the Pox Walkers could of used them as a form of mobile LoS blocking and even prevent the Flayed ones initial charge. If you know you are going to lose the deployment, you could try and split the Rhino's from what you planed to put in them. It is a funny tactic. You are not required to drop things in them.

T2 was MASSIVELY lucky for the Necron player. So if that player called it boring it was because they passed a ton more saves than they should have and the Death Guard player made far less hits and wounds then they should of on average. That is fine from a game perspective but it should be stated.

Last thing. There are other terrain rules. Barricades, craters, hills, etc. Not just ruins. 8th Edition needs terrain and the Pox Walkers above all else need some form of terrain to save them from some shooting.

Luka,
When you have to batch roll large numbers of Attacks, please do all of the Attacks, but then all the Wounds, then all of the Saves. It keeps the pacing of the batrep up.

DanielTMU (4 months ago): - delete
The batch rolling toward the end of the batrep was way better than in the beginning. As a Content Producer, you are developing very quickly. Awesome job.

Darklord321 (4 months ago): - delete
why did you skip magic phase in turn 3 for typhus and as a side comment smite works better than plauge wind sometimes

I prefer Gift of Contagion! Can really turn the tide.

Haha, Space "Skeletons" against Space "Zombies".

first turn, when firing the defiler after moving it should hit on a 5+ due to the penalty on moving and firing heavy weapons,

Nasty Naziland what the fuck?

at between 42:00 and 43:00 a die gets rolled with a chip on the edge of the "1" face. it lands on 1 almost every time. Throw that die away. lol.

Tajerik (4 months ago): - delete
17:09 -- Typhus's Destroyer Hive always hits on 5+ (when firing overwatch and regardless of modifiers) but his unmodified BS is 2 , that was 6 hits and 0 misses.

Nooblord (4 months ago): - delete
Seems like you really need to focus nercon units, them being able to constantly get up makes them tough

Part of the 2%. As a death guard and necron player as my main armies, I really enjoyed it, both played their style well. Hindsight sure things could've been different, but in the moment commander decisions are key to the game, mistakes are a part of that imo. Thank you to both!

Darklord321 (4 months ago): - delete
how are you guys making these lists it seemed like a lot of bad choices for death guard plus why would you not focus down necron groups and try to fight seperate battles all over the place

Luka do Collen and yourself shop at the same store for the strange cat t shirts? Even though I guess Collen has branched into sloth shirts.

skopji (4 months ago): - delete
To be honest it was a great batrep. Both players were fun to watch and although not a blood bath it was a super close game.

Rules you got wrong, and it's a small one, btu important. At about 29mins you did a consolidate that is a little illegal. You must end your move closer than you started. This is important because it's what allows "300 style" moments where a few models positioned well can hold of many of the models as they have difficulties get in to attack,.

M26deJulio (4 months ago): - delete
Sorry Luka, but when you're playing 60 Warriors and 35 Flayed Ones you cannot complain that the game turn boring. Try to variate your List. Necs are much more than Warriors and Flayed Ones.

I was under the impression death guard couldn't take heldrakes. At least that's what the death guard army list says on page 57 of the chaos index.

Lyraeus (4 months ago): - delete
The just cant be Legion Death Guard. You can take them but they wont get at aura benefits which can matter when the codex is released.

NedTheGoat (4 months ago): - delete
Okay, thanks for the clarification!

Blokeyblokeman (4 months ago): - delete
As a chaos player (emperors children) I'm quickly learning that defilers, heldrakes, cultists, pox walkers, obliterators, warpsmiths, dark apostles, mutilators, possessed marines, warp talons and forge-fiends are a bit rubbish, they are all replaceable with something cheaper and or better at the exact same role.

Really wish I could fly out and battle the miniwargamer dudes and win some glory for chaos

Lyraeus (4 months ago): - delete
Maybe in your area they are. I have seen pretty good things.

if you are calling Cultists AND pox walkers are rubbish, what are you replacing them with that is cheaper?
+2

Goatsplitter (4 months ago): - delete
Cultists are great for a cheap objective holder, bullet sponge, and the ocassional flamer shot. Skip the flamer and one unit represents only 2.5% of a 2000 ot army. That isn't a 'rubbish' unit. To expect anything more means they are probably being used wrong.

When necrons used 2 command points on counter attack stratagem he only attacked with half of his unit.

It doesn't look like poxwalkers have any use

Lyraeus (4 months ago): - delete
They just got a bad set up in this game. They are good but they were miss used I think.

Alkuzar (4 months ago): - delete
I just happen to notice it, not sure if I missed it before. But at 1:05:35 the Death Guard player shoots the bolt pistols from the plague marines. But only the champion has a bolt pistol, regular plague marines can't take them. (unless I missed a FAQ about that?)

Glad to see more battle reports, but still really looking forward to the last of your faction focii (T'au). Thanks MWG team
