How to Win One of 10 $25 Gift Certificates

It's time for another contest!

This contest will not only test your painting skills, but your photo taking skills as well.

To enter the competition all you have to do is take a picture of any Warhammer Fantasy or Lord of the Rings model (whether you painted it or not) and submit it to our online store under the appropriate product (more on how to do this in a moment).

Each picture is manually reviewed and is either:

Deleted because the picture isn't high enough quality
Approved and made the main image for the product
Or approved and made a secondary image for the product

Every day, Monday to Friday, starting Monday April 12, 2010 though to Friday, April 23, 2010 we will randomly choose one Warhammer Fantasy or Lord of the Rings product. Whoever submitted the main photo for that product will receive $25 in points to our MiniWarGaming North America store.

You can win more than once, but not for the same product.

Let's go over some official rules (make sure you read ALL of these so you can fully qualify).

RULES

1. To enter the competition you must take a picture of a Warhammer Fantasy or Lord of the Rings model that is on our online store and submit it as a product shot (instructions on how to do this below).

YOU MUST HAVE TAKEN THE PICTURE YOURSELF. Any caught taking pictures from other websites (we know how to check for it) will be banned from the competition.

This needs to be a good picture to win, so read this picture taking guide before entering the competition.

NOTE: You'll notice that you don't have to be the one who paints the model. You CANNOT, however, take a picture of a picture, or use somebody else's picture.

ALSO NOTE: Each picture should show the product once. Do not submit pictures that have multiple views of the same product all in one picture. You can submit the multiple views separately to the same product, however.

2. The photo must accurately represent the product, so no major conversions should have happened.

For box sets, here are some guidelines for what will more likely allow you to win:

Battalions and Starter Sets: The picture should be of the entire contents of the battalion / starter set, not just one item.
Box Sets (e.g. Wood Elves Box Set): The picture can either be of one unit from the box, or of the entire box set.
Army Books / Rulebooks: Unfortunately these products will not qualify as there is no way to take a picture of a codex without violating Games Workshop's Intellectual Property conditions.

3. The miniatures in the picture must be fully assembled and painted.

4. You must be 13 years old or older to enter.

JUDGING

While prizes are chosen randomly, they are chosen from amongst those whose pictures were approved as the main product image, so there is some judging involved.

We will be judging the pictures based on:

1. Painting quality. The better painted the miniature is, the higher chance of being approved as the main product image.

2. Picture quality. The picture needs to be clear, well-lit, cropped close up, and with the proper colouring to qualify.

In other words, you need to paint a good model and take a good picture. If anything, the picture taking is more important as a well-painted miniature will look bad in a poorly taken photo, while a less well-painted miniature will look alright in a good photo.
