None's Biggest project ever

Post by Nonebutone » Thu Apr 28, 2011 11:54 pm

Okay... So.. after people mentioning gargants and me thinking of building one for a while..> I Sat down at my desk, looked over at my Bits Bin. (its literally a bin... I'll take pictures of it another day) And set to work

30 mins later... I had the basic foundation of... this:
Image

This, Would be the beginning of my Gargant, Its the same height as Big Bloo at the moment, and I've yet to build the ankle or foot that attaches to the base of it! So far the plasticard work is just to give the leg more texture, I'm hoping to get more H and I plasticard Beams, along with more tubing, as at the moment I'm working with the scraps in my Bits bin.

I want this Gargant to avoid the generic "Upside down trashcan with a head and arms..." Look that dominates the orkish conversion spectrum, I prefer my Builds to be shaped more like the orks that are meant to build them, rather then what a 4000 pound man in Full plate would look like holding a gun.

This in mind, this is going to be a gargant, not a looted titan!

Now, to keep me interested in this Project, I'd love to get people's Opinions, ideas for improvement and thoughts on the project as it develops beyond this leg.

at this time I havent Figured out what rules I will be using for it, More then Likely this will be a Mega Gargant, rather then a Great Gargant. At the Moment I'm using the weapon load out provided by The-Waaagh Codex of the Orkokalypse, but wepaon load out is going to be fluid up to finalization.

To do list (Will be updated with each post to track my progress:
Stage 1:
Complete the First leg, Including Rivets, filling in any exposed spaces that allow the interior to be seen.
Build the Foot for the first leg, Then depending on finalized angle, begin work on the 2nd leg to create balance.
Build the hips, strongly enough to support the weight of the torso to be, and also allow movement of the model without it falling apart.(perhaps drilling and Brass rod)
Stage 2:
Begin work on the torso, Including the vast number of Hull mounted cannons, and other various weapons.
Torso weapons: GutBusta Belly Gun, 7 Deth Kannons, 9 Big shootas, 3 Zzap guns, 8 Supa Rokkits, Mega Scorcha. 2 Pulsa Rokkits.
Build the head, Going to make the Eyes glow, (red eye at least for the command deck, probably blue/green for the Gaze of Mork/Weirdboy Tower

Stage 3:
Begin work on the arms, They are going to be bulky, so make sure the torso can support the weight.
Arm1: Weapons: TCCW Dethkannon
Arm 2: Supa-Zzap Macro Kannon(range 180, str D ap 2, Orniance 1, 10 inch blast, Its in the waagh book)

Stage 4:
Paint. Oh god... Paint.

If I ever get the money I'm thinking of making a gargant out of;
3-4 stompas
1 baneblade
1 stormlord
2 drop pods
2 batlwagons
4 trucks
And any thing els possible.. :D
But yeah, not only is that going to be HUGE, but its also going to move!?!?
THATS WAAAGH! AWSOME!

Oh, and you should use 'the generater' on this thing as well!

Wow! It's going to be a small feat just transporting that to games. You take this hobby to a whole nother level none.

Guess its too early to give any true critiqueing on the leg since rivets and such will help break up the flat areas, so I'll just throw out a question and a suggestion

-Is that leg going to be able to move? The hip joint looks like its part of a motor or something.

-You have to make him stepping on something, rather it be a tank or that trygon's brother

As soon as I saw that picture all I could say for an hour was 'meep'. I think putting da generatur (or something to that effect) inside it would look great. I just like the idea of all the werky bitz exposed. Good luck!

Stalin is impressed! *Stalin reaches down and pats you on the head* You should consider joining the Red Army Engineers.

No more joking. Wow that thing is huge, but so far great job! The leg is what, 8" tall minimum, and even that may be to the knee, then another 8-12" for the rest of the leg. Again I say, you have a gift.
