Starting a Legion of Everblight army.

Post by TGTOTOSean » Sun Mar 30, 2014 7:56 pm

Ok, I was thinking about starting a legion of Everblight army, before I am I'm going to search around for a club where people play it but besides that I'm thinking what I want in my army for now, so I'll say what I'm thinking about then can you give suggestions on what you think would've better.

I wouldn't bother with the archers. They got hit pretty hard with the mk2 nerf bat. Everything else is solid. You might think on a Naga Nightlurker, Shepherds, Forsaken, Succubus, and a shredder. These are your support pieces. Fury management and important animi.

Sythean stand above Carniveans in nearly every aspect. I strongly recommend replacing them. 2 less points, reach, blood bath, removing tough and healing. All excellent.

I agree to drop the archers. If you really want the infantry swarm, bring a spawning vessal and nyss Legionnaires. Using the corpses from the legionnaires to spawn more and more light warbeasts out of the vessel.

That also said, you will want a few shredders and harriers. Both are very useful and cheap.

While I would normally agree to drop Carnivean, in this case I would not. The combination of Death Shroud (-2Strength within Thagrosh's command) combined with Spiny Growth nets you a 4 point armor swing. With a Succubus, you can spam the animus safely.

Drop the archers, get a Spawning Vessel and some solos instead. Strider Deathstalkers or some of the ridiculously good fury management LoE has to offer

So this is where i stand now...
Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight
Carnivean
Scythean
Ravagore
Blighted Nyss Striders
UA: Strider Officer & Musician
Blighted Ogrun Warspears
UA: Warspear Chieftain
Spawning Vessel
Shepherd
Shredder
Harrier
Succubus
Blighted Nyss Legionnaires
They all seem pretty fun and still able to cause a lot of damage, I don't think id ever use all these at once but you can kind of tell some combinations I'd use.

Well some models are a bit trickier to use than others. For starters, I'd suggest to play a few matches using only warbeasts (and your caster of course) and then slowly expand into infantry and solos.

If you don't have it already, a token set (or even two) will make your life much, much easier. There are just too many effects in play at any given time to keep track :p

Except that PP is a jerk with the Legion token set as it doesnt come with continuous fire markers even though Ravagores. So....thats a thing.

Tell me about it. I did find some cool laser cut fire tokens from advance deploy, though. There wasn't much of those things when I was playing legion. Now, there are a lot of options. Does suck to have to buy things you should get in your token set.

Anyway, to the OP, get a battlebox and practice with that until you feel you know all the rules for them. Then, change casters and slowly add to your army. It's a lot to remember, so you don't want to get overwhelmed.

I've decide the first models ill buy is the battle box and a Scythian, since the heavy war jacks are the ones that made me want to play The Legion of Everblight. Thanks everyone for helping thus far.

Just fyi, Everblight (as all hordes factions) use warbeasts, not 'jacks :p

But yeah, the BB is pretty beastly. Prepare to be at the recieving end of some whining tho, caused by its "OP'ness" in low point matches :D

Sleeves? :p I use some no-name, low quality ones. They only last maybe 2-3 months depending on the usage, but then a pack with 100 of them costs like 3 bucks so I don't really care about replacements.

For tournaments or similar situation with fixed lists I usually fit them into one of these as well, but that's more to keep things organized. Their binders are quite useful once you've accumulated some more cards too
