2500 Points vs. Space Marines

Postby MrFreeloader » Sun Apr 15, 2012 3:03 am

I know for sure he'll bring 3~4 Rhinos with troops, a Mortis Pattern Contemptor, a Terminator Librarian in a Land raider, and a few Vindicators. Because his Librarian because the Bloodthirster's mid-battle snack last time, he said he might bring another one.

HQ:

333 Kairos Fateweaver
300 Skarbrand (Testing him in this battle because I've never used him)

Troops:

128 8 Bloodletters
128 8 Bloodletters
128 8 Bloodletters
128 8 Bloodletters
128 8 Bloodletters

Elites:

240 5 Bloodcrushers (Fury, Icon, Instrument)
105 3 Flamers
105 3 Flamers

Fast Attack:

125 1 Nurgle Blight Drone
125 1 Nurgle Blight Drone

Heavy Support:
160 Soul Grinder (Phlegm)
160 Soul Grinder (Phlegm)
205 Daemon Prince (Iron Hide, Wings, Mark of Nurgle, Cloud of Flies)

Total: 2498

Blight Drone Rules (Is this against Forum rules?):
Fast Skimmer
BS2 Armor 12/11/10
One Reaper Autocannon
Mawcannon with Vomit and Phlegm profiles
Daemonic
Destroyed Wrecks become Explodes

Prefered Wave 1:
Skarbrand, Bloodcrushers, 3 Squads of Bloodletters, 1 Flamer Squad, 1 Blight Drone, 1 Soul Grinder
Prefered Wave 2:
Kairos, 2 Squads of Bloodletters, 1 Flamer Squad, 1 Blight Drone, 1 Soul Grinder, Daemon Prince

The Mark of Nurgle is for more survivability (although I think he'd just be wounding the Prince on 2+'s anyway by sending all his higher strength weapons against me) and the Cloud of Flies is just because I have leftover points. Suggestions? Comments? Outbursts?
rawr. fear me.

Personally I wouldn't take the Soul Grinders, in a list that has Fateweaver it just seems like a waste taking units that don't gain any benefit from him.

I'd also suggest dropping the Bloodletters down and get some Pink Horrors with Bolt to pop his Rhinos or replace those Soul Grinders with Tzeentch Daemon Princes with Bolt.

I've brought Horrors in 3 games against him. In one game, 2 squads of Horrors simply died and did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Second game, one squad blew up 1 Rhino, both squads ended up dying died. Third game, one squad shook a Land Raider. Both Squads ended up dying. They don't seem to make up their points value. And as for the Prince instead for Kairos, I agree with you and and leaning towards -1 Grinder +1 Prince (I only have 2 of each).

I wouldn't suggest grabbing a Tzeentch Daemon prince simply because Daemon princes are just better at being close combat specialists. Bolt of Tzeentch is a good way to take out vehicles, but its best for you to put them on Horrors. Try breaking them up into squads of 5. That way you can get more bolts out to damage vehicles but just as much shooty, and if they keep dying put them further back, try putting them behind the bloodletters so if they want to get to the horrors they have to go through alot of CC. Soul grinders use alot of template weapons, so they are great against horde armies. Space marines..not so much.
