Hi Krisbot,
I actually really like the colors that you have on this serpent.
Might I suggest giving those gems a little shine all you need to do is choose a lighter color and put a dab of it in the middle then when that drys add a stroke of white. Finally put some gloss over it and it will shine really well. It will make your serpent looks a lot better.
Although you don't have to it looks great as it is.

The 80's are making a comback, aren't they?
That is a very nice scheme. I agree about the gem stones, though. Here is a very simple How To image. Just follow that idea and then put some gloss over the gems, it'll look great.

Haha, yes! And Kris, I'm loving the look -- nice and crisp w/o being constrained to a set, often fugly, color scheme.Iacton wrote:The 80's are making a comback, aren't they?![]()
You sometimes see the great hobbyists and high-end paint shops come out with truly impressive nebulas and lighting-filled sky patterns and such, but I think yours can compete with the best TT-level stuff out there (and maybe I'm being biased on the colors or naive with my neophyte experience in this part of the hobby...).
I do agree with the gem advice, wholeheartedly -- it's the same technique I'll be using when I finally get 'round to it... :-\ Oh, and think about tossing a squiggly white line (comic-book style tinted windows, y'know?) on that cockpit canopy and coating with gloss varnish, too -- again, that's what I planned with mine, since I screwed up the first 2-3 vehicles' canopies already
Regarding the 80's revival, yourvalkyrie9 is allowing me to help her with her WIP Glam Rokz Ork army -- bright colors, glitter, long hair... Hell, even some of those old Ork musicians I spotted sometime ago on the 'Net.

Very slow WIP. Currently she's assembling and learning to prime. Total newb, very cute.krisbot4000 wrote:that sounds AWESOME. got a link/pics to/of these glam rock orks?

Always good to see pictures up. That is a tough paint scheme... My hands are not steady enough to paint along those edges without having to spend most of the time repairing slop.
I made the move to professionally painting 3 years ago. I paint a good mix between speed and quality. This keeps prices low, like a typical 2K 40k army is under $500.
