I bought me an Ork codex today, after a quick read (funny, funny stuff in there) I quickly made up this list. I have no idea whether it is effective or not, I mostly like the look of a tons of models. I also tried to make in contrasting to my SM army (which is fairly mechanised/shooty)

HQ: 170 total
2x Big mek w/ KFF

Elites: 450 total
2x 10 Lootas
1x 10 Burnas

Troops: 1120 total
4x 29 Boyz with a nob w/ PK and BP
2x 20 Shoota Boyz

Heavy support: 230 total
2x Battle wagon w/ red paint job and deff rolla (they're for the shoota boyz)


Probably not all that good (except the boyz w/nobz, I've seen those suggested alot)

Suggestions/help appreciated

since you've read the codex then you already know that burnas are power weapons when not used as flamers, your opponents will know this as well as will pour fiery death into the burnas to keep them away from vehicles and sensitive units. Since you've decided to footslog your burnas across the field this won't be too hard to do. to prevent that either A) purchase a trukk for your boyz but leave it empty and then on your first turn load the burnas into it, or B) purchase a Looted Wagon and on your first turn load the burnas into it. Either one is not very survivable against most armies being on AV10 and 11, but the Looted Wagon has the best chance at AV11, especially if your opponent concentrates fire on either the giant swarm of boyz or the battlewagons. This will however, make for the best chance for the Burnas to get where they need to be as quickly as possible.

Orks do not really do balance like this list. 2 battlewagons are easily dealt with by a 2000 pt army, which then gives the enemy a clear turn to slowly deal with the footslogging threats.
Beyond this antitank threat is missing.

I would go for another battlewagon for the burnas.
Then either trukk boyz or maybe one small foot slogging squad maybe even grots.
Else maybe add some nobs to get a 4th battlewagon.
Then for antitank duties loads of buggies with rockets or koptas.

I say just play though, easiest and most fun way to learn :)

Hmmm, how about this as a revised list? It's battlewagon wall (i'm leaving some gaps as I'm unsure of effective units/loadouts to put in the slots)

HQ: 85

lose the Kannons, on the battlewagons, your using deffrollas and as such your battlewagons should always be on the move to their maximum, so you won't be able to shoot, and that makes the kannon wasted pts. keep the big shootas, that stops vehicle damage shenanigans.
Nobs - PK(as many as you can afford), BP x1, Waaaugh Banner x1, Heavy Armor(on all of them), my codex isn't in front of me so i don't remember what kind of guns they can have or upgrade to

trukks will be moving their maximum as well to try and get your boys into CC as soon as possible, but you still need cover as well, so take a ram plate it will allow you to reroll terrain tests. add in that last boy for 12 total in the trukk to make maximum use of your squad, the trukks capacity, and the mob rulez rules

Fast attack:
Any suggestions?

Heavy support: 420 total

same as the above, lose the kannons, and put squads of something in these.

Total (including the nobz battlewagon): 1529
your probably going to find that you need pts to do all of the above suggestions, don't be afraid to take the lootas out of the list, they make for a large target from the get go, and they die pretty quickly even in cover.

remember though that these are only suggestions and it's best if you play what you think will work for you and try different things out, I only have 5 lootas myself, and they die to fast, so i don't play them anymore until i get 10 of them and then i'll try them again, and again at 15. it may be different for you, but until you try it you won't know. and MOST importantly, HAVE FUN.

Howw about I replace my 2 Loota squads with 2 8 man Burna boyz squads and chuck them in 2 of the battle wagons? That way i have nobz and burnas roaring up in deff rolla wagons

looks good, the big meks will be with the burna boyz, yes? if so then since you still have a few pts to play with give the big meks boss poles at 10 pts each and your list will total out 1998.

remember the KFF only has a range of 6", so make sure the three Battlewagons are running close to each other, and then split them up at the last moment.

The list look great, I would want more buggies but that is just me. We need to discuss nob set up but that is at the bottom of this post.

'ard boyz are really not worth it. Really only good if you get covered in bolter fire.

I would be tempted to have 14 burnas in one battlewagon: This leads to putting down a template and getting, say conservative guess of 5 models. Then having to roll 70 dice :)

Thus putting 20 boys with nob in the spare wagon. Dropping 'ard boyz and their trukk.
Possibly make them shooty, given they measure from the hull so any unit within 18'' gets shot by 40 shots. Make it 19 and put the kff in here to spread out the threats the enemy has to shoot.

Nobs are expensive and are not so great thanks to grey knights.
You want to: keep them cheap as possible; wound allocation nightmares, with different set up on each model; have a painboy, learn FNP rules as people will try to cheat you out of saves through their ignorance; have everyone with cyborg bodies; have a good load of klaws; have a bosspole.
8 is not such a bad a number.

All with cyborg bodies,
-painboy, grot orderly
-klaw
-big choppa
-boss pole
-klaw, ammo runt
-klaw, waaaghhh banner
-kombischorcha
-klawm boss pole

Good list overall :)

then it's a go, as the wartrakks are meant to harrass the enemy and draw fire away from the critical units like your battlewagons. divide your wartrakks up into three squads that are as evenly numbered as possible.

I made an error on my part earlier as well, the Waaugh banner only affects the nobs WS, not the whole army, so you'll have to make note of their increased stat or you'll either forget or try to make it army wide.
