Hello everyone, I'm new to Warhammer 40,000 and war gaming in general and decided to msake this to help people like me. I'm set to run a Blood Angels army and had my first questions occur in the middle of a game.
1. If a Sternguard Veteran swaps out his Bolter for a Storm Bolter, does he still keep his "Special Ammunition" rule?
2. Mephiston, Lord of Death has a plasma pistol but "Gets Hot!" is not listed under his rules. Does Mephiston still suffer the same penalties for botching (rolling a 1) as other units with plasma weapons?

i believe that the special ammo is specific to the bolter you would have to check the wording on that one and yes mephiston can botch his plasma pistol role as gets hot is not a universal special rule so it isent listed under his profile its something associated with the weapon its in the main rules book under plasma weapons/gets hot
1)says replace bolter profile with... even if it could the stormbolter would have the same profile. Combimeltas for the win.
2)Yes, it is a plasma gun. That banter batrep with Dave for the win, where I believe he all but killed mephiston himself with plasma pistol and perils.

2. Mephiston, Lord of Death has a plasma pistol but "Gets Hot!" is not listed under his rules. Does Mephiston still suffer the same penalties for botching (rolling a 1) as other units with plasma weapons? yes, its just a typo, but all space marine plasmaweapons have gets hot

Thanks guys! One more question for now:
1. How does Dave get the "Feel No Pain" rule with his Blood Angels? sanguinary priests, all friendly units within 6" of him have feel no pain and furious charge

Because he's the power creep Magic deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Because he can tank it. Because he's not balanced. He's a board sweeping powerhouse. A win condition pull.
Hey guys the caffeinated crazy person is back! Here's the Q&A question this time:
What are the Pros and Cons for the Blood angels when compared to the other Space Marine armies, including Chaos?
This should cover everything from special rules, to weapons, to units. The whole shaa-bang. Also lets try to not repeat already said statements but if you have something to add feel free.
My friends and I appreciate the help guys!

you mean like a unit to unit (and maybe an overall) comparison?

Does anyone know where I can get the decals for the knee pauldrons?
Also does anyone know where in the infinite hells of the warp I can find the basic blood angel shoulder pads, other than on the GW site? Those things are insanely expensive on there. One Assault squad with those is about the same as buying a Rhino.

That's it, other than Forge World, which is more expensive.
And if you though this hobby would be cheap, you're dead wrong. Assault Marines only come 5 to a box, so you'll need two boxes plus the shoulder pads.
I'm fully aware this hobby isn't cheap. I had no delusions that it would be costly. I'm simply trying to be economical. I have done the math on how much this will cost me, so please don't assume I have not.
