well .... the battle force can be used as an army but not a very effective one for tau ... a good list is XV 8's XV88's/hammerheads pathfinders and squads of 6 fire warriors in devilfish ... also maybe a large kroot meat shield but actually i guess you could do a bit of damage with it but im not the best at making lists sorry

I would do something like a kroot squad as a screen then do a 6 man firewarrior squad. A hammerhead with railgun and a crisis team and crisis commander.

I feel his pain, soon I will posses my first Tau. 24 fire warriors, a drone and 3 battlesuits. Ive been looking through the codex trying to develop effective strategies for this force in a 500 point game. Its actually really fun once you get down to the brass tax of it.

people don't make lists for you on this forum, that takes effort and is annoying to do.

I have a feeling the list above would have a tough time chewing through a couple rhinos.

This is a solid 500 pont tau list.

1 problem a raider or a monolith and this list is a short stop.

His list isn't bad considering he is trying to use ONLY the contents of the starter box. I would suggest trying to find points to give the xv8 a missile pod instead of flamer though.

I personally
would say run 2 six man firewarriors squad. stealh team and then whatever they recommend for the commander. maybe add kroot or put a 6 man squad in a smartfish?

Second. Though i would switch out the plasma rifle and flamer for a burst cannon and missile pod for some anti tank goodness.

I'd rather drop the stim and flamer, pick up missile pod.

multiple possibilities that no one but he will have a definite answer to.

no reason to deep strike suits. You want them on the field to shoot as many turns as they can.

That's understandable.

The reason i would deepstrike is if:

1, they have a tank ( nail the living day lights out of that sorry rear armor )

2, there a long ranged army.

3, when you have a reserved unit and youve already done the damage to the other force, finish them up.
