Urge... Uncontrollable....BLARGARGLLLEELLELE
Take off regeneration to help pay for the Tyrant Guard because with 4 wounds and a 3 plus save it may not help much and you can take Leech Essence in a pinch BLARGELELEGLELGELGLEGLEGLEGLGLLELE Or swap Regeneration for the 2+ armor save so you don't get gibbed by krak missles BLARGELELGELGLRLGLERLELGLELGLERGLE

I have a small request for something to be added to this. Can you put up a list of the common nick names and what they mean? Such as Devilgaunt?

I'm new to nids, but I'm confused.. What exactly happened to the Carnifex? Did they get discontinued or something? Or did the Dex writers forget to add him in? I really want a Carnifex, but not if 5th ed lost them..

The carnifex is still there, however is base cost has almost doubled in points, and he is far less upgradeable. He used to be able to have T7, and a 2+ armor save. Not anymore!

This is making me regret Marines! I was interested in the Nids but as a noob player I felt they were very specialized. I went with marines 1st since you need fewer of them since they have expensive point costs. I want to make a SWARM nid army! just over whelm my enemies! I want to learn how to paint first because I have a sick idea for a black and neon Green color scheme with accents of red.

Never play something just because it could be easier if you think you'll have more fun with something else.Dro250 wrote:This is making me regret Marines! Warhammer is very expensive as you know, if you think you may want to pick up nids use whatever models you have and proxy them for tyranid units. This will allow you to find out if you really do want them, if you do take them. There's no point in learning how to play 40k if the army you're playing isn't the one you want to play because you won't have as much fun.
I did this very thing before I started tyranids as my first army using proxys from my friends' armies like tau, marines, chaos warriors. I then did it again when deciding to play fantasy.

Miotic/Mietic spore = Mycetic spore, for some reason you'll see this typo a lot and it's a bit of a pet peeve.
OOE= Old One eye
T-fex = tyrannofex
SitW = shadow in the warp
I can't think of any others right now

So this tread kinda looks death, But anyways. Are gargoyles any good besides screening units? And what is a good sqaud size to field them?

They're great screening units, as they're highly manueverable and the model stands about halfway up most of our MC's (besides the Trygon, obviously). However, they're great once you get them into close combat as well. The AG/TS upgrades on them are particularly cheap, and they have a special rule that lets them wound on 'To Hit' rolls of a 6. I also throw them in with my Flyrant and these upgrades so that against SM units, I hit on 4+, reroll missed hits with preferred enemy (Old Adversary from Flyrant), wound on 4+ and reroll failed wounds assuming I charged with AG, which also puts me at I5 for the first round of combat.painterofpaint wrote:So this tread kinda looks death, But anyways. I run these Gargoyles in units of about 20, give or take depending on the points size of the game. They aren't particularly survivable in shooting (only a 6+ save), but they are to be feared nonetheless.
