Where to start?

Post by ItsJustDavidson » Sun Feb 12, 2017 4:49 pm

I have recently got into the hobby as I have been interested in the lore and video games for a fairly long amount of time now.
I am currently trying to go for a more Khornate styled army but would like some help on where to go from here. Right now I have the Dark Vengeance Chaos army plus 1 squad of Chaos Space Marines, a squad of Chaos Bikers and a Forge Fiend. So I would like some help on what models would suit the current theme I am going for. Much appreciated in advance.

If you like Khorne where is your Juggerlord!?!?

I would get the 3 man unit of Age of Sigmar Skullcrushers. This way you can make your lord and use the other 2 Juggernauts as spawn, or more lords. I think Khorne has 3 of the best chaos artifacts, that fit perfect with the lord on a Juggernaut.

Vanilla Codex: Axe of blind Fury
World Eaters: Talisman of Burning blood
Khorne Demonkin: 60pt axe that turns your lord into a bloodthirster when he dies.

Personally, I would go for the World Eaters from the Traitor Legions supplement. The Khorne Daemonkins are good because you get free summoning after killing stuff and you can make formation wide bonuses for one turn, but they are very limited in what you can bring and there is something that World Eaters can do and not the Daemonkins: 1st turn charge. It's really possible to do this because their special detachment, the Butcher Horde, allows you to more of 2D6 all non vehicle units of this detachment and together with the Talisman of the Burning Blood that adds 3 inches to your movement, running and charging, you are almost garanteed a first turn charge at least with your warlord unit. On a lord on juggernaut together with a bike squad or spawns you will do a lot of damage. I don't think this should be underestimated. The Maelstrom of Gore formation also charge at +3 inches and gain fleet which is great.

As for models you want to get, a Lord on Juggernaut is a great HQ choice like gluttonousbolter suggested. Kharn the Betrayer is an effective classic choice. Bikers are great for escorting a Juggerlord, but spawns are a good alternative too. It will depend a little bit of what formations you want to bring. The Chaos Warband is great because everything in it has Objective Secured which is very useful in Maelstrom of Gore missions. But the Maelstrom of gore is effective too if you love Khorne Berserkers. It's up to you. Personally, I find the berserkers so iconic that it's hard to not take them in a World Eater army. In all cases, make sure you give a power weapon on the champions of your units, so that they can win their challenges and help defeat the enemy units. Also upgrade your chaos space marines with extra close combat weapons either by paying the 2 pts or by replacing your bolters by them for free depending on if you want to keep their ranged firepower or not. World Eaters should go all out for CC except maybe a few units of pure fire support like havocs, tanks or daemon engines because you always need some of them. Daemon Princes with wings, power armor and a nasty weapon are also always strong choices too (the Black Mace and the Berserker Glaive are especially potent in their hands).

I hope this will help.

Sorry to add another question to this but I didn't want to make a new thread. You can use daemonkin artifacts for chaos space marines?

It's only for models taken from the Daemonkins book.
