When do M's go out of date?

Post by FDARaptor » Mon Aug 25, 2014 12:45 am

Just got into MTG, and I saw that cards are marked "M11", "M12", etc. Is there a date when a certain "M" goes out of date, or is it every year, you have to buy new cards?

depends on format. In standard there's a particular group of the most recent ones released and only they are allowed. then you have modern which is basically any card with a black edge allowed.
Army - Wins/Losses:
Trollbloods - 22/2
Mercenaries - 4/0
Cygnar - 3/1

Standard format a core set rotates out every two blocks (a block being three linked sets each year). So if you're playing standard every two years them core set rotates out. If you're playing modern format all cards from 8th edition on are legal.
