+1 the bunny ears are full of win

The rest of the mini (which is not my favorite sculpt in the world) looks too thick in a lot of places, and it certainly is bright. I would just thin those paints down and do whatever you did on those ears all over his body ;)

Gotta say, too, though, the freehanding on the tabard is pretty sick.

all i can say to that, that this model is cursed. :(
i didn't buy it as a blister from the shop , but got it from my friend. (who had gotten it from his uncle or something like that.) and when i removed the paint, some of the places (like between the ribs and the rune on the back) were filled in with... something. this being the reason why i wanted to repaint it.

but enough excuses, i will try to thin the paints down even more now, and probably re-read a Lunas
full painting guide. Next up: Howling Banshees.

could you talk a little bit about your technique for the lava veins and molten plates?

I started with a white basecoat.
i glazed the whole body with golden yellow, making sure the yellow covered well.
then i gave the plates a glaze of blazing orange, leaving the veins yellow.
i then followed the plates up with a glaze blood red making sure to leave the orange showing near the veins and blending to get a transition as smooth as possible.
now i stippled a 50/50 mix of scorched brown and chaos black to make the areas of cooled lava.

the veins were highlighted with sunburst yellow, then with a mix of sunburst yellow and skull white. Finally the veins were highlighted with pure skull white.

i found the method here: http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/sho ... php?t=6410
