Da Necrons need some colour!

Post by Dtram » Sat Mar 08, 2008 6:27 am

Hey everyone.
You may have read in one or two of my posts in the warhammer 40k thread that I am going to get some Necrons hopefully pretty soon, and I don't really want to paint them the basic boltgun metal + Mithril silver combo.

I personally don't mind that colour scheme if it wasn't rushed, but alot of people on forums etc say that it is just too basic, and it would look much nicer with an actual different colour scheme.

So...I need some ideas for when I get them.

It could be as simple as adding white to the shoulder blades of the warriors, or can be as dramatic and obvious as painting them pink with white highlights (please dont suggest that! XD).

Anyway, so yeah just like I said, some nice and different colour schemes for the Necrons would be great!

Thanks guys.

I think pink with white highlights would look awesome!

But, what would be really cool is if you totally reversed the scheme!
You could make the metal body gold and the green parts(gunlaser, eyes, etc.) bright red!

Then post some pictures! :P

lol, I've seen some pretty nice pics of destroyers with most of its main body gold and the bits like the eyes, face mask thingo (the bit on 1 half of their face :P) the middle of the chest, green, which didn't look all that bad.

The problem I saw with it mainly being gold, being a metalic colour, sometimes they can look a little funny with streaks in the paint, and with alot of it being used, then there is more likely to be the streaks.

I probably have absoloutely no idea what I'm saying..but yeah!

....lol

lol, oh also, I like that wierd space machine thing thats next to the monolith with the white scheme, thats pretty cool.

But I don't like the red bits with the white scheme that much (pretty much just means I gotta paint the little green rod thing, and I dont know how XD).

How is that possible? I mean, there just so manly and terrifyingly strong looking, how could I miss that!?

And yes, we all know how lovable the necrons are (just make sure they put away that guass flayer =\ Isn't really that nice getting vapourised ((kinda...)) when you go to shake their hand...)

ANYWAY....More ideas please!

here it is. 'RUSTY NECRONS' looks pretty cool. And if you put your mind to it it'll only take about 30 hours for a 1,500 pt force.

1: Prime in Chaos Black

2: Tank Brush the whole model (including the bae) in Dark Flesh

3: Stipple Vermin Brown on just the necron (not the base) make sure you don't cover the entire thing

4: Stipple Blazing Orange on the model ( not the base) make sure you leave some Dark Flesh and vermin Brown showing

5: Use a combination of stippling and drybrushing to cover some areas of the model (not the base) Boltgun metal

6: (optional but recomended) CAREFULLY paint mithril silver over most of the areas covered in boltgun metal

7: Apply a 50/50 mix of Dark Angel green and Snot green to the eyes, cables, and electro magnetic fields.

8: Do any basework you want done and attach those green rod things.

9: VIOLA! Your done!

Hope you like it and if you use it send me some photos so I can see how they turn out. I'd really like to see them when thier done.

Thanks very much for posting that man, but I really want the Necrons to look pretty new though. Like the white and black ones in the pics above etc.

I may just even go normal colours, then put white on some parts, such as with warriors just have white on their shoulders. Still not sure on anything...
