I am opening this thread up early, since I see no problem with starting right now as far as getting your painting started.
Be aware, you are not required to post an update in July, since the first date painting is due will be posted August 1.
Show off what you are working on! Meet your fellow painters! Encourage each other!
For the first few months, it is *suggested* that you focus on making a bare minimum legal army. You aren't forced to, heck, they are your little plastic and pewter men.

Well, I'll just claim first post and throw this up here.
I'm still making progress (slowly but surely) on my Chaos Space Marines army. I'm just throwing up a quick picture of what I have so far.
Now, the models that you see completed are not part of this painting competition. If you want to see more of those, though, go check out my Journal thread here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5048
The ones that will be a part of this Tale are the ones primed in black.
The total points I'm going for will be around 1300, so expect about 130 points per month posted in this Tale. As you can see, plenty of models aren't even here yet. I'll be getting a Renegade Strike Force soon, and I'm hoping that new Daemon Prince comes around sooner than later!
That said, I have a single Sonic Blaster Noise Marine to work on, along with a unit of 10 Lesser Daemons, and a unit of 10 standard CSM equipped with Plasma Guns, with their Champion with a Power Weapon, and soon to join will be a model with an Icon of Chaos Glory. With the Renegade Strike Force I'll be adding the Defiler and Land Raider, two fully magnetized Chaos Rhinos, and I'll turn a few of the Terminators into Obliterators! The rest of the models are going to be saved for a future project, so long as I get this army done...
Can't wait to see what you guys have in store for the Tale, and it'll be great working with you all to make this a success!

Can't post pictures now because my camera is broken but I'm getting a new one way before the deadline for the first month. Ok, first let me state this about my chaos forces... This is nowhere near what I have total. This is just what I had sitting on various parts of my painting desk.
This is a Warriors of Aggannor warband. which means I can paint what I like and it will be a coherent force, Squads and groups of troops join and keep their own armor scheme.

As far as my Guard goes, I just grabbed one of my storage boxes and took a shot of that. I have so many guard, I probably could pledge 20,000 points and have enough to make an army. This box is mostly Cadians. (there are more chaos marines in the box too) I also have Catachan forces, Steel Legion (most of them are in the stripping bath), Mordian Iron Guard, my large block of stormtroopers, and a few squads of DKoK. Also not pictures is my huge army of tanks, including *7* superheavies and a Warhound.
