Plasma cutters... Think Dead Space

Post by ribtibs » Mon Jul 06, 2009 11:16 pm

Remember that beautiful dismembering plasma cutter from one of the best action horror titles ever? Its like a mini railgun and hits through targets. Somehow the weapon seems like it should exist and fire in a straight line through all enemies along that line at a limited range. Like pistol range... Mmm dismemberment....

Do it and post rules for it! Hmm what could be used to make such a weapon? :?:

Hmm...
to create plasma of the kind you might be wanting you need a lot of energy so no way it's gonna be pistol sized, especialy not cause you need materials for termo isolation and materials that can sustain and create magnetic fields in such high temperatures, else the plasma would disperse carring away all it's heat... If the shooting is what you want.

So... to make it shooty, you need a "minigun" sized weapon.
(it will not look like minigun at all! it's just gonna be little bit big and fire plasma blasts [probably cone shaped once plasma leaves the weapons tube ])
Such weapon would/should burn trough anything in close to medium range (10 to 20 meters) or at least make it awfuly HOT! incinerating infantry hit by that or burning/melting down armours and covers from metals stones or what ever it's targetet into.
[wielder of such weapon should be protected from heat in some kind of suit]

You could make it as a cutter as well. These things exist today.
Just empower the classical metal cutter that utilises plasma to cut metals and what ever it's used to cut... and you have a devastating mele weapon that ignores armour of any kind. (after some time with that you can cut your way in the enemy tank too :D )
You primitives think you own the stars but you have no conception of what you are saying. You can barely command your own lumpen bodies, so how do you believe that you can subjugate entire worlds?
