Faction Abilities

I was thinking about different factions, and looking at Christmas presents for my brother, and I came across the Tyranid's Carnifex. This made me think about their Venom Cannon (I am pretty sure that's what it's called) which gave me an idea.
What if there was a faction (Probably alien, like Tyranids) that had poisoning weapons. Maybe they could be weaker than a normal weapon, but have a chance to poison the enemy. Maybe when a person gets hit by the weapon they roll a die for a poison check, and 6+ they will be poisoned. Then for every turn they are poisoned, a token would be added which would subtract 1 point from what the opponent needed for a kill. That was just an idea, maybe other units could have other effects with their guns.
