It's a bird! It's a plane! No wait, it's a bird after all

Tell me what you think of this for a faction:

Faction Name: The Ornitheos

Faction Species: Sentient Birds

Faction Pros: Extremely high movement and morale

Faction Cons: No ranged weapons due to lack of hands, fragile single units

Faction Bio:
The Ornitheos started as regular birds, feeding and scavenging off the scraps and garbage of humans. After the event, the birds began to feed off those that had perished in the tragedy, including those killed in the biostorms. The birds themselves were able to stay out of the biostorms, but didn't know enough not to eat the food that had been tainted. Nobody knows why the birds weren't killed outright from eating tainted carrion and garbage, but somehow, not only did they survive, they began to evolve at a rapid rate. What started as the crows and vultures of the past grew to sizes unheard of since before mankind's existence. What's more, somehow their brains developed at an alarming rate. Early reports of coordinated attacks were few and far between, but within only a few years became an almost daily occurrence in some areas. It appeared the birds had their own language, and could compose complex strategies by working together. Eventually, it was judged that the birds had become sentient, and were given the name Ornitheos. Soon, reports of Ornitheos nest-cities appearing became common, as well as reports of the Ornitheos soldiers scavenging human technology.
The Ornitheos are a force to be reckoned with, although the only technology they posses is, for the most part, scavenged junk. They are surprisingly clever, able to perfectly execute complex strategies on the fly (literally). Their fighting tactics range from the speedy land-based assaults, to divebomb attacks, which consits of Ornitheos picking up rocks and other bits of debris and dropping them on the heads of their foes.

Faction Units:
Kraven - The most numerous of the Ornitheos, the Kraven show a range of fighting talents. The biggest and strongest decorate themselves with scraps of metal polished to a mirror finish.
Austrichz - The Austrichz are flightless birds that often stand up to ten feet tall. Though less numerous than the Kraven, they make up for it with their immense strenth.
Eglens - Often sporting brightly colored plumage, the Eglens are the generals of the Ornitheos army. Their talons are strong enough to crush bones into powder, and sharp enough to perforate tough armor. Each Eglen is capable of holding his own and much more in battle.

(maybe I'll think of more?)

it'd be like the movie right?? that would be pretty awesome although i think there would be too many of them if it was, and unbalanced obviously because most of them would be such small targets.

great story and great ideas

but one thing

what about spitting?
sorta like a ranged bioplasma. you know what im saying?
there could be a chance that the tainted food made there salivary glands produce more acidic spit?

or bird poo lol
no one likes that :P

That's true. Turkey vultures blow chunks as a defense mechanism, anyways.

It's true. My roomate in third year of university started crying in fright when she saw the big spider in the Harry Potter movie.

That is an excellet point, but do you think other animals would be smart enough to form an army? Birds are mega-crafty!

maybe not cross species, cuz most dogs will go with most dogs back to instinnct, cats with cats, birds and birds, but if it comes down to it where there at compitition with other species that are more advanced they would

do we really need them to be able to work together in reall life? i mean its as realistic as it gets till you say super mutations
