So, looking at the new Zone Mortalis terrain from FW there were 2 things I thought.
I love this so much!
LOOK AT THE PRICE!!! *dies a little inside*
So I was thinking of making my own Zone Mortalis terrain except instead of futuristic-y it will be Catacomb-y. My main inspiration is Skyrim's Nordic Ruins and I was just wondering if anyone knew how I could dig the holes in the walls where the draugr usually are?
I will be using insulation foam, and I don't have much experience with it, so yeah.
Also, any cheap basing material people would recommend? Preferably stuff I can find around the house.
Edit: Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. You can see the holes I want at the back.

Styrofoam, soda cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, ... use your imagination you'll know what to do when you start experimenting if you want to buy stuff I could suggest Styrofoam or chicken wire, wallpaper-glue and old news papers use the chicken wire to make the skeleton of what you would like to build then use the old news papers and wallpaper glue to fill it in pro: you can use spray-paint to basecoat it and its tough cons: it is a slimy mess and sometimes you can still see the paper so you need to fill some gaps
or use styrofoam and build it completely out of styrofoam by cutting it out and scraping pro: you can make more details and no slimy mess no risk of paper shining trough cons: still a mess with the dust from the styrofoam and you can't base it with spray paints
hope I could help

Styrofoam if you want it to break apart over time and just make a mess. Try pink/blue insulation foam boards. You can get a 3/4 inch 8x4 foot board for about $11 at Lowes.

Thanks, I planned to use insulation foam anyway, I already knew the dangers of styrofoam

My local comic store that hosts Warhammer games on Sunday has all foam terrain. Let's just say, aside from being boring (being all hills that sit at a measily 1" tall) they are in dire need of either repair or replacement.
I'm in the process of building some xenos themed terrain. Building up some Necron pillars to place around the table. Can be used as both terrain and objectives.
I'm using blue foam board as the body, and using plates of plasticard to make the exterior.
