Imperial sector project

Post by Litanyoffury » Thu Jan 05, 2017 2:28 pm

OK so in the end I saved up and bought an imperial sector with the intention of buying a couple more until I have a few nice and individual buildings. I'm basing them on quater inch mdf and then creating some large rubble piles and debris. The idea is to try to add some charachter to each one, by giving them a bit of a story the first building for example is based on the basilica administratum but I will be adding some large craters in the debris to represent shelling. The second is a sanctum imperialis with evidence of it having once bee fortified during a skirmish maybe for a last stand of sorts. But I'm really looking forward to the mechanicum building as I'm using the manufactorum kit mixed with plasticard and some piping to create a centrepiece type thing that was maybe some kind of chemical plant that went critical. My main thing is have any of you guys got any thematic ideas I could add into my next buildings? I will also post my work in progress pics so you can give me feedback aswell. Thanks in advance for your input :)

Update: part one

I have built the basic structures for two of the buildings one is the basilica administratum and the other is the sanctum imperialis I will post pictures when the structures are fully finished and based but before I paint them. One thing going I noticed with the kits is they take a lot of time removing mould lines, but the overall outcome of the buildings is quite good the details on the kits are amazing and I'm very excited about getting them finished :)

OK so a little bit of a late update but it's been really slow at the moment with a lot of stuff going on at work and home I've had virtually no time for the hobby but now I have time it's how best to spend it. I have finished the base structures for all my building except my manufactorum as I would like to add a few more kits to it to really make it a centre piece but until I get paid that's on hold so I've turned my attention to my spare bits from the sprues to see what I can achieve with those and I have a idea to get me started I'm thinking of use sing the railing pieces I have spare to fence out some kind of statue or generator maybe ideas very welcome if any one reads this that is.

This is the last time I will update as nobody seems to be following so it's seems a waste of time to upload the pictures here. But I have just purchased some interesting and super cheap spray paint it's military issue matt spray it comes in a range of colours from battleship grey to desert sand, combat green and dark earth and after testing some on a bit of sprue I think I may even base coat the buildings with this spray. Anyway not much more to report and if anyone is interested in more feel free to drop a reply and I will re commence if not consider this topic dead .

Honestly, the main reason why this thread is dead is that there aren't any photos. It's kind of hard to comment on a terrain project that we can't see.

Even a sketch of what you're planning to do, would have been helpful to comment on. ;)

OK sorry for the late update guys been such a busy couple of weeks but alas I managed a little bit of hobby time and managed to finish a few pieces of terrain albeit some of the smaller ones I planned to do so without further adoo here is my manufactorum monitoring shed lol (it's so small ).

Imagescreen shot

Imagepost a picture

Imageupload pics

Imageimage hosting over 5mb

Was quite pleased with how it turned out as I've never done rust before so was interested to see how I got on, next up the munitorum armoured containers. I wanted a bit of scatter terrain that I could us to create interest from game to game and also to link things together so here they are.

Imagepicture upload sites

Imagephoto hosting

So again I'm fairly happy with how these came out I wanted to try and portray That these barrels and crates have been used and reused and really towards the end of Thier life span but without over weathering them. Well that's it I finally got some pictures up and hopefully work permitting I will have my sanctum imperialis finished soon too. Hope you guys enjoy.
