With the advent of 8th edition, i'm thinking of a few themeses thare going around.

We have new Primaris Marines, so something scifi gene labs?

We've got the whole galaxy torn apart by warp storms so, maybe somethin warpy?

And lastly, weve got Deathguard making a solid appearance so, something Nurgly?

Anyone else feeling inspired?

So, I say we do the net build through November, so any thoughts on theme. Could be fall, could do the annual something scary or should we go with something around the new releases...a something from your favorite faction/codex theme?

Fall is a time of considerable change, so we could do a "changing" build? Could be left up to the imagination quite a bit, e.g. something Tzeentchy, something modular you can change around, something with moving or operational parts, or something literally demonstrating the changing of the seasons...

Maybe in a similar vein it could be something orange/red (I know we had something blue before) like the fall colors.

Something scary always works well, and it's a bit easier to plan for if nonregular competitors want to get involved!

Looking at my big box o' buildings I think there's one thing missing .. and it's quite Autumn (Fall) based ..

SCATTER ... I need scatter terrain ... craters, barricades and walls, razor wire and trenches to dash into over and under

I know it looks like group builds are a bit dead. Think we can at least make it to 80?

I suggest a group build using dryer sheets. I have waaaayyy too many lying around that I refuse to toss.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

I wonder if this is a factor of Warhammer 40K (I'm assuming it's the most prevalent game) really dropping the ball (IMHO) on terrain?

There's so few things that used to matter and now it's just infantry really that can get cover and unless it's a crater the size of the table, then horde armies (that are infantry based) really don't bother because it's so hard to actively get all your models in cover etc.

I find I'm making lots of larger LoS blocking pieces than I am making "Terrain" ... it's just all boxes now.

my 2cp anyway.. I'll keep making cool (I hope) stuff, but I've used it in play a lot and it's mostly meaningless apart from hiding behind it where possible.

All of my terrain stuff is packed in storage right now (we're building a house), but I'd love to participate in something that maybe involved small stuff (objective markers, deployment points, or the like).

I do see what you mean with the cover bonuses. It is kinda weird when only infantry get cover, and only when the whole squad is in it. Giant boxes for line of sight blockers is probably the most useful in terms gameplay. I think some medium sized pieces could still be useful for line of sight blockers. I think the tiniest of scatter is really only useful for people like MWG who do cinematic battle reports. Not including objective markers.

A house!? The ultimate terrain build lol. Hope it's going smoothly. What would you consider small I know you said objective markers but would you be willing to do something slightly bigger?

I would probably say,
Big things would be around 12in cube, multiple story buildings, or really large or only bearly ruins.
Medium would be like 8 in cube, smaller building structures on floor buildings or really ruined buildings.
Small 4in, garbage cans/infantry tents
And tiny would be anything smaller, like loose scatter think garbage bags.

What do you guys think?

Not sure why the drop in participation. I have been too busy and am looking for someone to take the group builds over. Once I get moved again, I will try to participate more.

I too got really busy with a project at work and couldn’t finish my piece for the last GB. The drop in participation is kind of disappointing.

Too much negativity! I know the turn out is a bummer but we should be looking forward for the future. For those that are busy with life, is it the size, or materials that are pushing you back? Or is it that you don't think you have time to do something to the standard you want? Or something else?

@nappen does the new runner need to be a moderator already? If so who do I need to win over?

Let's keep up the discussion.
