Monster Hunter Tabletop Wargaming?

Some members of the MiniWarGaming Community wanted to develop their own game; this is the official place to do that! Keep in mind that this is not related to MiniWarGaming's own project, Primal Horizon.

Monster Hunter Tabletop Wargaming?

Post by Grime1 » Tue Jan 17, 2017 8:28 pm

This an idea that I've thought of on and off for some time. The idea that one person playes as the hunter, and the other the monster or monsters, depending on how the game is played and set up. On the Hunter's side, max is four models, but can be upgraded with all sorts of weapons, armour, and other gear like the game. Where the monster's side can be one BIG monster or a lot of Small monster's. So I guess I'm trying to ask is, has anyone done this yet? If so how? Or if not, I'd just like some idea's to maybe go with. I'd like to try to keep it in 28mm in size, I'm used to that size and know how big things may have to be, to work right. Thanks for any help.

Could use the 40K Kill Team rules for that, Nid hunters or Feral Ork hunters...
Crucifiers (SM codex) (11881/703 PL)
Orks (3745/255 PL)
Astra Militarum (####/378 PL)
Fallen Crucifiers (CSM codex) (####/351 PL)
Khornate Daemons (####/65 PL)
Death Guard (2387/128 PL)
Primaris Marines (1099/60 PL)

It could be interesting to do this in a zone mortalis kind of board with token showing the presence of things in the installation, but not what it is. It could make a nice horror scenario where you don't know who is the hunter and who is the hunted... I like it in all cases. It could be a lot of fun.
