One problem i see is that you rarely kill anything :( unlike warhammer 40000 (This might be different because i play space marines). Please fix

It is a 500 point game with minimal units, a skirmish therefore having quick deaths would result in quick games. And that is not fun or uses all of the games techniques and systems to it's fullest, therefore the game is hard to kill and creates "shootout" battles throughout.

Well, you're combining to hit, to wound, cover, and armor saves, so duh you're not going to be as successful with your rolling, and what Infardi said.

Heres a little math

Post by Spacemarine23 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:20 pm

you are right, but for a space marine squad of 10 against another space marine squad, 6.66 hit, 3.33 wound and 1.11 hit so that is about 1 of 6 kill. In the demo there are some that hit on 1 of 12. 1/2 the chance of hitting in warhammer 40K

Keep in mind this is a Skirmish game though. 40K is all about killing huge numbers of guys really quickly. Having a squad one-man down in Primal Horizon can really hurt... but your 10 Space Marines don't even flinch if one of them dies.

Are you saying space marines are expendable "For everyone of us who dies. a hundred enemies shall die"

Fluff wise, no. Gameplay wise, absolutely.

And in my experience, I haven't lost 100 Necrons for every Space Marine I've killed... it's maybe a 1 to 1 ratio ;)

In real life, that's what it would be. Unfortunately a Necron unit of 10 could take down a space marine unit of 10 in the game.

Well you can't really compare the fluff of one game, to the gameplay of another. Compare them on a gameplay to gameplay basis, if you must draw comparisons at all :) When one Space Marine out of a group of 10 dies, nobody cares (except for Emma, but that's a different story). When one Marauder out of a group of 4 dies, you're in trouble.

Good point.

PS. I know who Emma is. Shes the one who has a moment of silence when one dies. I think that way when my Terminator librarian dies.

I think the way you "barely kill anything" is more realistic.
IRL everyone is keeping their heads down (Other then Fanatics) and dodging as much fire as they can. So it's fair in a 15-20 model game to make the models hard to kill. I mean if they were easier to kill - the game would last about 3 turns. With a 4/5 man squad I can pump out 6 shots first turn.
