Or you know, you could just use a scatter die.

But what my point is, is that I can't see anybody using it, just because it's so unreliable. It may be something an insane fanatic might use, but in a game where every soldier is important, you need something that won't potentially do more harm than good.

Yes but not only does this weapon have a rather HIGH chance of back fire, you can't just take risks like that willy nilly when every death can hurt.

I agree with Fusebox, when you have 200 goblins running down the table, you don't mind if 2d6 * 5 die - that still doesn't put a crimp in your day. However when you have 20 models, a flamer template with a bad roll could mean 4 guys burnt toast - and that spells disaster.
