Is it too late to send a story?

When we get around to reading a story, you will receive a reply regardless of our decision, yes. We don't want to leave people hanging any longer than we have to :)

There were well over 50 submissions. Trust me, it was enough, and was hard to decide.

Everyone who sent in a story got a reply. And I know for a fact yours did.

I was rejected...off to the emo fields..... j/k

Here is my story for your pleasure peoples...

Enough is Enough

Everything was red. A deep, crimson red. The color of blood. That is what happens when the biostorms roll over, everything turns a terrible, terrifying red. Sam lay prone in the scarred desert sands, looking through his rifle scope at the ancient slaughterhouse. Sam planned to add more red to this night.

The slaughterhouse was alight with activity, and despite the distance, Sam could still hear the revelry inside. Sam had been tracking this particular group of bandits for four days. They had raided his home town of New Irvine dozens of times in the past, but on the last raid, they had gone too far. The bandits inside had murdered his wife, and even now they had his daughter. Who knows what evil and depraved acts they had committed to his precious baby girl.

Seven guards stood restlessly around the perimeter of the building. The unlucky ones who weren’t allowed to delve into the depravity inside, forced to make sure they weren’t ambushed. All of them were protected by sealed enviromental suits, which is the only reason any of them were still alive. The disease and acidity of the biostorm rain would kill anything it touched.

Sam’s suit had cost him dearly, everything he owned to be precise, but he knew he would need it to rescue his baby girl. He also knew he would need the high-powered rifle in his hands. Sam, to his great regret, had killed a Shield soldier on his way to the slaughterhouse, and stolen the rifle he had carried.

Sam centered the bright red crosshair in the scope onto one of the guards, the one that was off by himself. The bandit’s suit made him seem like a robot, less human. The mask he wore gave the bandit’s evil a focus. That focus made Sam’s next act much easier.

He squeezed the trigger.
