Monetary cost?

Post by Tarnag » Sun May 17, 2009 7:36 pm

I know it is very much in the planning stages now, but have you guys given any though as to how much this game is going to cost?

Even the most basic 40k armies can cost upwards of $500 USD, so what were are you projecting for Primal Horizon?

How much can I expect to put into this game?

Well, they probably have a ballpark in mind, or it at least crossed their mind. Even if they don't know how much it will cost to make, they probably have though about it, like they could adjust the point values and normal game sizes to reflect a projected cost.

No idea to be honest. We won't sell our stuff at a 1500% markup or anything like that.

I'm assuming we'll start with pewter and go from there.

Pewter is basically lead

Pewter is what GW's and Privateer press's metal minis are made of

No, pewter is not light

Didn't they stop using lead for health reasons?
Also what would be cheaper - pewter or resin?

Lead is poisonous, but Pewter tends to be a save alloy of it.

Just a point of scientific and metallurgical curiosity...
Pewter is not a specific kind of metal. Instead, it's a name given to a group of similar alloys, which are primarily made out of tin. An additional 10-20% of the alloy can include metals such as copper and lead. As far as gaming miniatures go, lead is almost never used for health reasons, though certain lines still make use of it, as it's cheaper than tin.

So it is possible for one type of pewter to be much lighter than another, depending on the actual composition of the alloy.

Ever try to pick up a pewter cauldron at Halloween? Yea, I helped my buddy move some stuff out of his basement for a garage sale. That cauldron nearly killed me.

It was like lifting a dreadnought...

...are dreads made out of pewter?
Sometimes I play all the Elves. Sometimes I play Eldar or IG. But between school and warhammer, how's a fella supposed to eat?

personally i think resin would be best because you could have more room for conversions and you could be more detailed
