they said that daemons would get an update for 40k not fantasy as chaos warriors are next for fantasy. And I would not say they are 99% wrong they got the necron stuff right (except the death ray

Actually, I called up GW's help line prior to the Necron FAQ and asked about the Death Ray. They told me the same thing BoW said. Ridiculous, I agree, but that is what they said.
In any competitive setting, a call to GW to confirm a ruling stands until FAQ'd. Weird, since they often give contradictory rulings, but that's the way it is.
Once you said Beasts of War you lost my interest. I wouldnt trust them as far as i could throw them. Which isn't anywhere, you can't throw cyber information.

Ohh well who knows (except some GW employees)..... time will tell. The only thing we know its going to be for sure (well almost sure) a army thats serves the gods of chaos

Daemons done really need a new book especially when there are other armies that need one much worse then we do. Tau. CSM, Eldar, and Black Templar are in dire need for new books. The last daemons book came out in 2008 which really wasn't that long ago. I think all we need is a couple of rules updates that we may get in 6th edition this year that could make daemons top tier again.

that would be nice, but will they be too good in 6th? cause a lot of rumours have been pointing to allowing assult after deepstrike which will make all khorne armies just wreck all termy and power armour armies and for swarm armies, take slaanesh instead. if they do get a new book then this might even the playing field a bit.
Agree with Caim, the Daemons Codex isn't a very old nor a bad codex it just suffers greatly due to the current editions rules.
The more I think about it the more I think how bad assaulting after deep strike could be. A simple strategy of mass Nurgle units w/ icons in first wave could set you up for some devasting assaults come second turn. If anything I'd like to see something similar to reserves in Apoc being used for Daemons, at least then we know what will be coming in and on what turn.

Don't forget the orks and all the FB codexes. And if they do a new codex they will release it another time in contemporary with the army book. IMHO not a chance of getting a daemon codex by 2013.

I agree, around April next year I reckon would be a pretty good possibility, Tau and CSM will go before us along with another marine dex as always then my guess will be eldar or us.
