Well I got my 3 Boxes of Warriors at 2:00 along with a box of Lychguard. I got home and did up the two conversions for the Lords I needed and took the Orb out of the Overlord's hand. Then I found my Ghost Ark just shipped, so I will not have it in time for the game Monday. At 3 I'm off playing taxis for kids. I got back about 6:00 and got my first box of Warriors and Scarabs together and primed. I'm starting on the second box. I want everything assembled and primed tonight.
Update... 8:00 and I have box number 2 is assembled and primed. I'm averaging about an hour a box.
Update 2... 9:45 and after some distractions I have finished assembling the last box and the first coat of primer is drying. I'll get some pictures up soon when the second coat dries. I'll then paint the Scarabs up quick.
Update 3... 10:30 and I have all of the Scarabs painted and based. I have 38 models to paint... They go really fast though. I think I will get them all done tomorrow.
Update 4... 11:45 and I painted up 12 Warriors and based them. 24 Warriors and 2 Lords left to paint. Off to bed for now though.
Well I started back up this morning around 8:30 and with some distractions I got the last 24 Warriors and 2 Lords Painted. That is 47 models in less then 24 hours.
So my box of Lychguard is now an Overlord and 4 Lords. I still need to finish one Lord...
I did the Overlord with the green ball on top of his head to match the one from the Command Barge. I also made it so the head of the staff can be switched with the Warscythe head. I love my magnets. The last Lord only need the hand holding the Orb. I had to make all but one so I'm getting used to it. I also need to paint it.
overlord needs a little something because even with that little ball he looks very similar. Also how do you get your orbs so well shaped my orbs usally end up misshapen.
He has a fancier cape with an emblem on the cloak. Really the only difference between this Overlord and the one that comes in the Command Barge is the metal plate cape similar to their loin cloths... that is it. I had one head with a ball on the top and non of the others had it, so I figured that will be the quick way to distinguish the Overlords from the Lords.
This is the entire box of Lychguard converted to an Overlord and 4 Lords...
You can see the Necron symbol on the Overlords back on this last picture. I also magnetized the staff head so the Overlord could take the Staff of Light or the Warscythe. Not bad for $23.10 in models.
I'm telling you though... looking at the Overlord from the Command Barge, they have the same hip plates, the same loin cloth, the same crown on their heads, the same shoulder plates, the same spine sticking up behind their heads... everything but a cape and switch around some equipment. Yes I know this is not actually the Staff of light. It needs one more set of blocks on the side of the head, but the ONLY models they have with one right now is a Cryptek, so this is as close as I could get. So yes it is a Lychguard with the Praetorian's Rod of Covenant, a Resurrection Orb, and a cape added to it. Like I said though the model matches their newest Overlord model perfectly.
Yes the colors are a bit drab. I wanted the green to stick out big time and I am not going to try doing any glow or reflections on the metal. That is WAY to much work. The army all painted up looks great on the battle field. I'm off to set up for my first battle right now.
I'm still waiting on my Ghost Ark, but this is everything but my last Overlord I made. I have 2 extra of the big blocks, but I might get another troop holder and another like the Spyders holder. This way I can leave out the big one and take the other 2, giving me lots of option that will fit in my case. Tons of pockets and pouches too, plus an extendable handle and wheels... for slightly more then one GW case.
I am sitting around 1500-2500 depending on how I load up the characters and which vehicle combinations I take. I really need to hold off buying stuff for a bit, but I might pick up a second Command Barge.... just to keep things symmetrical. I'd love 10 Lychguard, but I'll hold off for now.
Well one of the guys at the shop asked me to magnetize the bases on his VC army and I told him I'd do it for a Command Barge. I was offering him a really good deal, but I didn't care... it is my hobby. It took about 3 hours Friday. Well now I have a command Barge.
So Far I have...
Necron Codex 2x Command Barge (Magnetized) (one free) 2x Ghost Ark (Magnetized) (one free) 4x Warrior/Scarab box Lychguard box converted to 4 Lords and a Warlord 3 Spyders (scratch built)
Total I have spent is just under $200. This is turning into a very cheap army. I have the second Command Barge assembles and magnetized, but not painted yet.
Well I finally finished painting my second Command Barge. It was a free-be (sort of), so I am still just under $200 spent on the army. This is my current list at 1850 points...
Warlord with War Scythe, Mindshackle Scarabs, Tesseract Labyrinth, and Resurrection Orb. Warlord with War Scythe, Mindshackle Scarabs, and Resurrection Orb. Royal Court -Lord with Mindshackle Scarabs, and Resurrection Orb. -Lord with Mindshackle Scarabs, and Resurrection Orb. 9 Warriors in Ghost Ark (Lord) 9 Warriors in Ghost Ark (Lord) 15 Warriors (Overlord) 15 Warriors (Overlord) 6 Scarabs 6 Scarabs 3 Spyders (one with Fabricator Claws) Annihilation Barge with Gauss Cannon Annihilation Barge with Gauss Cannon
This is 1844 points and uses every model I have except 1 Overlord and 2 Lords. I want to Add to this army as time goes on, but mostly I want 6 Wraiths and 3-5 Crypteks, and a C'Tan... Maybe 10 Lychguard and 10 Immortals eventually. A pair of Magnetized Scythes would be nice too. One more box of Warriors and a third Ghost Ark and possible some Tomb Blades and a Stalker eventually. I'm not sure about the Monolith. I really want those Wraiths though.

The quickest way to get more scarabs.... Only glue 3 to each base, they only have 3 wounds and most people wont notice... Then each warrior box makes 4 scarab bases. Its what I did. But I had to because I used 6 scarabs as heads for the 6 wraiths Im doing. Nice job!
