Anyone play with this guy regularly? Hows he do? Im kind of addicted to farseers, and in the event im not running two I like to break out my perdy lil FW avatar.. so Ive never given Yriel a day in court.
Though I did paint him up the other night.

IIRC, MWG Joe has run him -- check the Banter Batreps.
Seems to me, he's mostly a tank-popper with that crazy spear of his, and can do a nice "last-stand" bit with the blast centered on him from his "eye" thingy. Wonder if he'd be as good going up against dreads... Maybe Carnifex killer? I dunno 'Nids too well.
Edit: That's the older version of him, or have you modded on a different spear and removed flags?
Yriel is a beast, the only problem is finding a squad he truly fits into. Harlies and Banshees will both likely kill the squad they assault before he gets to go and he can't outflank with Striking Scorpions(would be an amazing squad to attach him to otherwise) The best squad to attach him to is actually Storm Guardians (take 2 fusion guns and a warlock w/spear) and makes a great tank hunting squad.

If you run the fully-kitted Serpent w/ TL Brightlances and rely on that and Yriel to pop the tank, you could run 10 stormies (2x flamer) and a squad Lock w/ Destructor for OMGWTFBBQ goodness (3x flamer? Yes pls!) once the peeps inside pile out. Should work rather nicely in all phases w/ the good combo of hero/troop & shooty/melee. Plus, they can obj camp from the vehicle -- yay troops choice!

I can never make myself put 2 HQs in the same squad, I always end up needing the help elsewhere (a squad with Yriel doesn't really need a farseer support, and sooooooo much else in the codex really does)

Hells yeah, I agree -- which is why I split them up all the time, as in my examples above...
