Hey guys, before I magnetise my flying stands for my tanks I want to sure im using the right ones. Do I use the big ones the drones use, the medium sized ones, or the short ones?
Also If I mount my hq battlesuit on a flying stand and glue it on his normal base would this be accepted in regular games? Not to model to my advantage (more of a disadvantage really less cover for him to use) but to just have a cool effect.
if you are really picky about cover, use both a small and large stand, with large you can jump out and have the fire warriors shoot under but have a tank in the way so no assault, use the small base if you try for cover ( use distraction pods they are better) and for the suits it shouldn't matter too much, if you are playing a hardcore kid that says "i can see his head i can shoot him" you might not be playing the best crowd, most people will respect a well modeled model, if not or you simply dont care just dont use them, hope this helps
There are no rules that require a base. Thus I've seen people put those cushions for chairs on the landing gears and thats it. The lower the tank is, the more there is a chance of covering it completely from enemies on a certain portion of the board. I'd not call it a flyer stand as it is a skimmer stand. The flyer one is a lot bigger.
I've also seen ridiculous stuff. Like someone having their hammerhead on a FLYER base. The one meant for a baracuda or other. It is specifically stated range is calculated from a weapon to the hull of said tank... and that one made the hammerhead stupidly impervious to melta weapons. While it is not in the rules that you can't do it, don't.
