I’ve never entered something like this before, but after having some good feedback with a model I recently posted asking for advice, I thought why not give it a go!
I’m not the best at taking pictures though, so fingers crossed that they do the job
Here we have one of my several Forge World models, a Tyranid Trygon.
I collect Tyranids with my brother, and when it comes to the paint scheme we wanted to aim for the use of a few, rather than many different colors, trying to pick out and highlight the details the Tyranids seem to have, such as their bone structure in the models.
I do this with dry-brushing four different shades of gray to achieve the correct lighter and darker patches, adding a little black or white where necessary. Similarly the purple skins are made with 3 shades, and slightly watered down around the mouth to get a light color for his gums.
This first picture is a front view, where hopefully you can see some of the different shading.

And finally, here is a side view that shows the shading a little more clearly. The mouth should be easier to see in this view as well.

Another FW Model.. Got more? I'd love to see them, I love everything what has to do with FW (in total models, no brazenbrass or shoulderpads etc). Great job, Maybe post some pics of the completed army in the miniature painting section?

Yes I do have a good few pieces of the Forge World stuff. Myself and my brother both collect Tyranids and are about to be ordering a huge amount more to finally finish off our apocalypse army. I’ll try to keep this post just for the competition though, but over in the ‘Just 40K Tyranids’ section, I have a post asking for any advice on the Malanthrope and Stone-Crusher Carnifex. If you have any feedback you can post there on them it would be great.
I’ll try and get pictures posted over there, but with the amount of stuff coming….. it’s going to be a lot of work to get them all made and then painted so I will have to do them in stages
