the great champion placed inside the sarcophagus of this mighty killing device is the great tyranid slayer Thanatus Scortonis who single handedly took on 3 carnifex at the battle of Macragge. He killed everyone of them, costing him his left arm and both his legs. He was brought back from the point of death by a young cadet who was on patrol. The cadet dragged his mutilated body back to his camp where medics worked on his body for many days. When it was clear that he was beyond saving, the masters of the chapter deemed him worthy to pilot a dreadnought due to his heroic deeds. He was then posted on the Eastern Fringe where he hopes to wreak vengeance upon his most hated enemy; the Tyranids.
