Platinum Brush Contest Winners Announced

Post by miniwargaming » Wed May 06, 2009 9:46 am

I'm sorry this took so long, but it was EXTREMELY hard to judge this contest. There were a ton of great entries, and I want to congratulate all who entered.

Our next contests will be even more refined, focusing on painting new miniatures rather than showcasing past paint jobs.

However, you aren't reading this thread to learn about our next contest, you are reading it to find out the winners.

Remember, each 1st place winner gets a $50 gift certificate to our store, while the runner ups get $25. The overall winner gets upgraded from a $50 to $100 gift certificate.

There were a lot of great entries in this contest! Congrats to winners and not-so-winners alike!

EDIT: One question though, why are you awarding contests with points now? I think its a fine idea, but I'm just wondering.

The prizes have always been in terms of points as points = money at the online shop. :) It's always in terms of store credit, and when in the form of points you can't lose your coupon/giftcard/etc.

It simplifies things.

Woa! Congrats everyone! Ofcourse very well deserved winners and sadly enough there have to be people who didn't win. A very fair competition giving everyone an equal chance of winning by only awarding 1 user for 1 price, not multiple prizes.

Thank you MWG for your competition, I'd love to see more competitions later with challenges/painting/theming/etc :D

Another big Congrats to the winners, especially TheSommo

Congratulations to everyone, all the entries looked good, I especially liked the Nurgle Dreadnought, very cool idea there for the conversion... Looks like we can draw some inspiration out of this competition... :D

Congratulations to everyone! With so many great models entered I can only imagine how difficult it was to judge. My favorites have to be the Vehicles and the Dioramas; demarcosg's Nurgle Dreadnought, A Luna's Eldar Flacon, and Arithon's Wolfen Diorama are just insanely beautiful works. They diffidently raise the bar. I'm now wondering if the MiniWarGaming store is going to carry the Lysander miniature? TheSommo, you make yellow look easy. Yellow and snow don't usually mix well but you pulled it off. Great job. :D

Thanks all (I have to thank people right? Or it would be a little arrogant :| ). Also thank you Roninjr, I couldn't believe the smooth blending on the balrog when I first saw it. Next time, I expecte a re-match against you, Arithorn and LotrMaster6 (to call some names who jumped in my mind)
