I'm allowed to deprecate my own entry And Joe flat out admitted his idea was based on my idea, so it's only fair I knock his too I really could have put more effort into both the execution and the painting of the portal, but kind of just cranked it out so I had more time for my other painting.
Really though, I think this was a pretty successful first MotM. I'd love to have seen more of them end up painted, but we'll just have to see what next month brings.

The painting isn't bad on yours, although an unpainted base... well in the way of the extra ballast you put on, kind of takes away from it. Plus, it is just a Forge World piece painted. I mean, it is kind of along the same lines as taking one of the Dark Eldar Slave Girls and painting them up.
Scratch that, I would have voted for that one.... definitely!

And that is why Kharn was cut from the original cast of Puttin' on the Ritz.
Kymmerus' entry turned out really well, so I would vote for that one if it wasn't already a run away win for him.
I am a bit disappointed that not a single person liked my offering, I will have to try harder next time I guess.
No one said they didn't like yours - just that other ones stood out more. You did an awesome job painting up that dead guy, and it is a fantastic piece in its own right.

All entries were excellent. I just wish i'd have had more time to put a better paintjob on mine, but all in all not a bad start to a new monthly ritual for me. I just hope i can keep up with MoTM, Group Builds, and weekly painting pledges. I look forward to next month contest and will hopefully will have more time to work on it.

AND THE WINNER IS.......
KYMMERUS!!!!!
I believe this entry best incorporates all of the details that make a great objective marker. Had an object from the army (the Spore Launcher), had minis (the Ripper Swarm), and told a story (with the ripped up Gaurdsman and equip.). Definitely the best overall in execution. Everybody's looked great! CMcF's entry was a close second, but looks more like a terrain peice as opposed to a marker which is why Kymmerus got the slight nod.
Honorable mentions to everyone for some fantastic ideas!
So, Kymmerus, you have until 9pm EST tomorrow night to type up your theme for March and pm it to me for posting in the March thread. After that, the mods will decide on the theme.
Good luck to everyone this month and keep gam'n! Greywolf, Woulfgar, & Stephen
