I recently just got my Introductory boxset and I'm looking to expand my collection of Battlemechs.

The only place I'm aware of that has mechs is Iron Wind Metals, but the boxset came with a very nice plastic Thor and Loki so I'm guessing some else somewhere makes mechs but where?

So where do you guys get your Battlemech minis?

The plastic Summoner and Hellbringer are the first of their kind produced by Catalyst games themselves. The only way to get them is in the Introductory Box Set. Otherwise Iron Wind Metals is the only other place to get Battlemech models.

Disappointing news but thank you for the info. I hope Catalyst continues its plastics. The Summoner (guess we are using Clan names?) is really nice.

Was hoping for more options though, I don't like the look of Iron Winds Cauldron-Born(Ebon Jaguar) and that's my favorite Mech.

Yeah sorry about the clan names thing. I'm a clanner through and through when it comes to Battletech and I very stubbornly refuse to use the Inner Sphere names for them.

Does House affiliation or Clan matter in Battletech?

Coming from 40k where you pick an army and that limits your units, if I'm Clan Jade Falcon does that cut me off from fielding Inner Sphere mechs, or if I'm FedSuns am I limited on the ammount of clan tech I can mobilize?

Not really, adhering to a theme is a choice not a requirement. There are no rules saying if you play a certain faction you have to field certain units.

Agreed, the only time my group has ever stuck to one group or another was for campaigns, usually we just threw together a few lances/stars and went to town.

The clans and houses all have their own source books. They do have some special rules and ways to play them and info on the mechs they developed themselves. Clan mechs are way better then IS mechs so why would u field them?
I started out house of Davion then when the clans came out i went with Clan Wolf. I still love a good game of battletech over any other game.

Oh btw, i have tons of plastic minis. I got them all from ebay. battletech stuff isnt high demand so you can get a good bargin.

By 3067 the differences between Inner Sphere and Clan were muddled enough that Clans weren't the uncontested best mechs. They still had better tech but the IS brings some cool tech that the clans didn't have like Stealth Armour, Light and Heavy Gauss Rifles, C3 Networks, RACs and so on.

your right, the IS did have a big come up. I love how even the clans had to rip off tech from them. And the IS did come up with some nice toad like suits like the Kell Hounds battle suits.

I always like to take a Tech readout and have me and my opponent play in that year. 3050 was always my fav.

I've always preferred 3067 with 3050 my second favorite. I like the Clans but in 3050 they did have too large an advantage. With 3067 however things are a little closer in ability and in general I just liked the FedCom Civil War era.

Just use AP rounds. Every hit is a possible critical hit!!!! By the later Era's the Clans are pretty even match. Not forgetting two of the Clans are now Inner Sphere, Nova Cats and Clan Wolf in ex. By the way death o anyone Warden. Yes I'm a Jade in Clans and Kuritian in IS.
